Disney customer service can't answer this for me so I know the only people who can help are here.

We are contemplating upgrading to the Deluxe Dining Plan ONLY if Dine with an Imagineer is accepting the dining plan. It says on Disneys website that it does but I thought it didn't before. Anyone know the answer? 4 cast members on the phone didn't.

Sorry. The dining plan isn't accepted for this special meal event.

The confusion on the site is possibly because the RESTAURANTS that host the meals (Brown Derby for lunch, Flying Fish for dinner) accept the plan. However, you can't use the plan to pay for the special event. The website's widely known to put up incorrect or confusing information.

I'd do it anyway.

We will definately be doing the Dine with an Imagineer. Hopefully 3 times on our trip. Maybe twice. That's why I needed to know if it was on the DDP. If 2 or 3 of our TS meals don't count then we will just not get the dining plan.

They don't let you use the Tables in Wonderland card either for it. I would love to see it treated like the parties and tours where annual passholders and DVC members get a discount!

We are doing Dine w/an Imagineer for our 3 night trip later this month and are on the DxDP. I figured it was worth it because I have 3 signatures planned for our dinners, 2 character breakfasts and one lunch (another lunch is covered by our KTTK tour). Even if you plan to do Dine w/an Imagineer 2 or 3 times on your 8 night trip, you can use up your TS credits by booking lots of signatures, shows, etc.

I just called to try to book Dine with an Imaginner during our trip next month. Unfortunately, it all booked up :sad2:

But I asked if this is available on the Dining Plan. The CM said that it is available on the Platinum plan as a 1 credit experience. On all other DPs it would be OOP.

I booked for my daughter to attend the lunch at Brown Derby with the Imagineer and we used 2 Table Service. That was in May. The website says dining plan accepted, so I'm not sure why the confusion. All I can say is that it worked for us.

All indications are that while the Brown Derby accepts the plan, the special meal with the imagineer does not. Why it worked for you I don't know. Have never seen any other report of regular (non-premium) dining credits being accepted for this.

Because I still have my receipts, I doublechecked them and sure enough, they used our Dining Plan credits (2). Because my daughter enjoyed it so much, I booked another one in October. I will send an email just to confirm that the dining plan is accepted since there seems to be some confusion.

And the answer for using the Dining Plan is that it should not be accepted for Dining with an Imagineer, although sometimes it happens, as in my case.

The person I emailed noted that the website is confusing and they are looking to change it.

When I was making my ADR for my Sept trip I was able to book it and link it with my DxDDP. It said it would use 2TS credits for the lunch. If you can use the plan for Fantasmic and the dinner shows I'm not sure why this would be different. I hope we don't get a bill when we go in Sept!

Because this is a special meal event, not a dinner show or a show package. You should not count on being able to use DDP for this. You can't use TIW for it either.

"The Disney Dining Plan is accepted at The Hollywood Brown Derby™ itself for lunch and dinner. It should not be accepted for Dining with an Imagineer". This quote came from a person who works in Food and Beverage.

If I'm not mistaken, you can link your resort reservation to all your dining reservations, out of pocket or dining plan.

If I was you, I would check because $60.99 is alot of money to end up paying. If I am not mistaken, you have to give them a credit card to charge it to - so that might cause a problem.

When we did it, I thought it was a great deal, considering everything you get with the event. Like I have said in a previous post - we were lucky.
