Digital picture printing

I have alot of digital pictures on my computer (approx 1800) over the past several years that I have not printed. To get them printed at Walmart is $.20 cents per picture which is approx $360. Does anyone know where I can get them printed for less. It seems like someone would have a discount for such a large volume. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Just call me the queen of cheap. If there's a discount to be found, I'll find it, lol. REally, I got this code from these boards. It's for winkflash. You get 50 free prints for signing up. If you have a few e-mails you can use it more than once. The thing I love about them is that they have a flat $.99 s/h fee no matter how many your order and prints are $.16 after the free ones. So it will still be expensive, but why not print your favorite 50 and then do it again on your husbands e-mail (that's what I did) and then you can order some at a time. Then try to keep up with them and don't let them build up to 1800 agina It gets expensive when you have that many.

A little off topic here.... but that is my camera on winkflash's site. Bought one of those about a month ago for the trip. Pretty neat camera. A 4.1MP Fujifilm FinPix A340.
I do happen to like that site though. It would cost me about $160 to develop the film I plan to take at the world instead of $260 at Walmart.

Thanks for the info. I will try them. Believe me. I don't plan on ever letting it get up to that many again. I had good intentions. I was working on my scrapbook and trying to do them in chronological order and not print them until I was ready for them. Well I have come to realize that I just need to print them and get them in a regular album to enjoy and scrap them as I can. Otherwise we can only view them on the computer and do not have the ability to enjoy them by looking through albums (which I love to do). Thanks so much for the info.

By the way- what is the code? I went to their website and signed up but it didn't give me any info on 50 free prints.

I try to print them as I go and I store them in photo boxes, that I get on sale at Michaels for $1.50 each (told you I'm the queen of cheap, if it's not on sale or clearance, i ususally don't buy it unless it's just a good deal) anyway, they are seperated by dividers that come with the photo boxes. Then I just pull out a section at a time to scrap.

The Sam's Club by us does 1 hr digital prints for $.14 each. It's always worked great for me!

That's true. I never thought of that. I'm going to make prints of just the ones I want, then burn all of them to CD's. Every once and a while I'll make copies of those so they wont be lost to time.

I store all of my pictures on cd also. Once my memory card is full (approximately 350 pictures), I take it to Sam's and they burn it onto a cd for $1.89 and they also provide index prints. I'm not crazy about their staff, but the quality has been acceptable. It also saves a lot of space on my hard drive.

I've heard that CDs degrade over time, too. I don't print many pictures. I back 'em up on CDs and an external harddrive every now and then. And I have my screensaver rotate through My Pictures folder to keep the files fresh. Hopefully something will last.

I'm sorry. That's too funny. My wife thought the same thing. I told her "Yeah, I am going to go get on my computer to fluff the hard drive." She didnt find the humor.

You should re burn cd's every several years just so nothing happens. The best thing to do is stay up with technology. As something new comes along burn your images to that. In 50 years they may not be able to read cd's but if you have kept up with technology you will always have your images.

By the way the screensaver doesn't do anything to prolong the longevity of your images. Once you save the images they will stay that way forever.

It was an investment to begin with but we no longer have to worry about size or duplicates and we know that its good quality paper. We buy the paper at costco. There is nothing like taking family photos and sending them home with everyone when they leave. Just another option-

Sending the photos home is nice BUT OP was looking to save money and the per picture cost for paper and ink is much higher when you print them at home than when go to a one hour phot.
