I have a Compact Flash Memory card for my Digital camera. It is full. I want to copy a couple of specific pictures onto a CD. What I have is a USB reader/writer called Removable Disk H on my computer. I have never had any problems with it until today. When I go to make a CD with my CD maker program and try to open H it wants me to format the disk. Doesn't that erase it? It will not let me do anything else.

And now, when I try to open it from My Computer, it wants me to do the same thing. It has NEVER asked me to format before.

Can anyone help me? Thanks! :)

I've had trouble occasionally with my reader especially if I've been online and then wanted to download pictures. I've had success with shuting everything down and rebooting. I know this isn't much help but it may be worth a try. Good luck.

DON'T format the Compact Flash, or NO pictures.

Are you sure it is not asking you to format the CD? I would start with above suggestion, reboot and start over. But DO NOT format the H drive, that is your Flash and you will lose all your pictures if you do. Once you have them safely copied to hard drive and/or CD (I do both), then format is fine, assuming you want to reuse the card, which I am sure you do.

Let us know how you do, Jenn, or if you have continued problems.

Thank You! I fianlly just saved them to my hard drive and then copied them from there. I have them all saved on a CD now so I formatted my memory card. :)

Dan, it was asking me to format the H drive. When I tried to open it it said format H. At least I know what to do in the future. :)

That was really stressing me out for a while! LOL! :p :teeth:
