That is a nice camera, but it is not a SLR. It is a high end point and shoot. If you can not take the lens off, then it is not a SLR. It is difficult to get a SLR for less than a thousand dollars.

Can probably get the D300 for £300-£400 if you can find it. The replacement {url=http://ukdigitalcameras.safeshopper.com/8/663.htm]D350[/url] is a good Digital SLR.
