Digital Camera--Where to buy prints?

I have a digital camera that I rarely use. I took it to Disneyworld on our last vacation and I've got 200+ pix to print. I'm busy editing and cropping. I'm having a really hard time with the red eye reduction feature (any hints here would be greatly appreciated).

Once I get this all done, where should I take them to get them printed? Local Walmart, Target, etc....or the online services like Shutterfly and Ofoto. Can you tell a difference? Is one better than the other?

I'm a real camera nut which is why I've never really used the dig camera....I have an awesome SLR 35 mm with all sorts of attachments and never could see why anyone would want a digital camera. But after not having to lug the huge camera bag around WDW, I think I'm sold on the digital. I just have to figure out how to get **good** prints.

I've used Snapfish for years now. They do film processing too. What I like about them is that they give you the option of getting matte finish on your prints instead of just glossy. I like that since I hate glossy. They also process using Kodak processing and Kodak paper which is the only way I would allow anyone to process my pics.

I've been using Shutterfly for two years now and really like them. I buy my pics in bulk, 500 at a time, and put them into an account were I use what I need. They are cheaper that way and I can just pop on and do quick orders. I have Disney albums from the last 6 trips and all printed by Shutterfly. I usually have 100 printed at a time and they arrive within 2 days of ordering. I just put another order in tonight and should get them by Tuesday.

I have used a couple of different options. Shutterfly is probably the best for what you are doing because they have very good editing features that you can do on your computer. Make sure that you download your pictures directly to Shutterfly. Don't download them to your computer and then transfer them to Shutterfly. The quality won't be as good.

If you go to Target, make sure they print your picture directly from your media card. I had our Christmas card pictures printed there and when they turned out terrible, the clerk said it was because I had transferred them to a disk from the camera, which I had not done. I later realized that another clerk had taken my media card, transferred it to their computer and printed my pictures from their computer, instead of printing them directly from the media card.

At our Walmart they have a Kodak kiosk and a Fuji kiosk for digital pictures. The Fuji kiosk is hooked up directly to their one-hour photo machine and the quality is much better. The Kodak one is basically just a computer with a regular printer, like you'd have at home. You have to wait an hour for the Fuji prints, but it's definitely worth the wait!!

Keep in mind my digital camera is over two years old and not the best quality, so you might not have some of the problems that I have.

Do you have a Sam's Club membership by any chance?

Their digital prints are *gorgeous* and are .18 each (matte finish). My dh has his digital wedding prints done there (enlargements, too) and they come out beautifully.

If you have a Costco membership, you can link to Kodak through them. The prints are awesome and really cheap. I have yet to wait more than 2 days for my prints -- even the time I ordered over 200!

Photocheap.biz is what I've used to print my Disney pics. It's the cheapest place I've found online - if you print over 200 pics, you can get them as low as $ .12 each. You can track your pics through processing, printing, and shipping...I remember it being a pretty quick process too.

Another vote for Shutterfly here. For print quality and price, I've not found anywhere else to beat it. Some other places cost a bit less, but the quality was also less.

I use Costco. .19/pic and they are ready the next day and can get an email when to pick them up but they've always been ready before I get the email. You don't pay shipping. Just go to Costco.com then the photo dept.

I'd stay away from Walmart & Target. Locally, they have a noticeable drop off in quality. I use Ritz camera to print anything of value.

Digital SLR is the only way to go if your seriously into photography.

I like ClubPhoto.com ... they offer a 4xD print ... so my photos aren't zoomed and cropped.

Think prints are on sale right now for 17¢ each ... I usually have my prints in hand 2-3 days after I order them.

CVS and only CVS If you get a good store where you know the people they will do a great job and get you done. They also offer bsuiness accounts and get a discount if you have a business :jumping4:

Denman, That is a beautiful photo. Ritz does a good job, our local CVS does as well. Also Digital SLR would be nice but still very expensive!
