I have just got a new Digital camera with a 500meg memory card. Any idea how many pics. we will be able to take with this ?

1) The amount of pictures depends upon picture size & resolution.
2) The camera view finder display should list how many frames are left.

50bear, if you tell us exactly what make and model of digital camera you have, I can probably look it up for you.

Scupper, not every camera has a 'frames remaining' display.

Did you try reading your instructions?

Have you ever tried reading the instructions that come with digital cameras? :scratchin I think it takes two or three advanced degrees to understand all that :p

Okay, so maybe I exaggerate :rotfl:

When I bought my digital camera, it had a chart in the instruction book. It broke down very simply the different size cards, resolution & how many pictures I would be able to take at various settings. Sometimes we overlook the obvious.

I just looked at my camera (Fujifilm FinePix S5100) and it might not be the same as yours, but it can give you an idea:

Highest quality: 270
Next highest: 532
Next 2M: 818
1M: 1101
Lowest of all: 3993

I know, mine did too -- I was just teasing you.

I just laugh because my reading comprehension is extremely high, yet I had to buy a manual to explain the manual that came with the camera

We have a Nikon CoolPix 4300 (4.3 mp) and a 500 mg card in our camera will take 1516 pictures at the "normal" setting, at "fine" setting it will take 797 pictures and at "basic" it will take 2704 pictures all with a picture size of 1200x1600. HTH :flower:

Whatever you do, please burn them, or download them before you go. I had 675 pic (med resolution) on my card when I left Disney, and the next day, at the developers, when I wanted to make "real" prints, there was only 175. -- DH said something about static electricy or something, ---- doesn't make me feel any better. I was trying to save money at Disney by not buring them there, but I would have spent double now to have those pics back.
--- sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread, just wanted you to come home with lots of pics.

This might will defintely vary depending on your camera and resolution settings but here it goes:

Here is an example chart showing storage capacity in relation to file size using high resolution JPEG compression. Your results may differ based on the variables listed above.

Hope this helps some! Gives you a jumping off point! :earsgirl:

EDITED : THIS WAS A NICE TABLE BUT DOESN'T SHOW ON HERE!

I know I'm rare, but I enjoy reading instructions, and actually read all manuals before using any new product (even before driving a rental car). DW can't stand that about me. :earboy2:

If you don't download the pics before you leave WDW, take steps to minimize the chances of loss. Keep the memory card in the protective case that it came with. Some memory cards have a "lock" kind of like the lock on a floppy disk --- lock it. If you leave the memory card in your camera, "protect" or "lock" the pics with your camera so they can't be accidentally erased. (The dreaded manual should explain how to do this last step).

Best Idea . . . call your local camera shop who sells that camera. The sales man/woman are trained to assist. I purchased my camera from Wolf Camera and still have questions after almost a year! I just keep their card in my camera bag, their number on my mobile telephone speed dial and POOF! I have instant assistance . . . no manuals! I only use my manual when I absolutely HAVE to! :flower:

Where at WDW can I have my digital pictures put onto a CD? Is there a film developing place that will do this for me?

A pentax optio S5i with a 500meg SD memory card
my view finder says 290, i expect thats pictures but i am not sure.
Any help would be usfull

Next you're going to tell me that you actually stop and ask for directions! :rotfl2:

Hey, at least you can say you are one informed dude! I would rather someone be like you versus never reading anything at all! Good for you! :flower:
