I have a Olympus Camedia D-360l/1.3 megapixel. Given to me by my mother in law, she upgraded. I have never used a digital and thought I preferred a regular camera to a digital. But have been playing with it here lately and I kinda like it. I haven't had any photos processed yet, but hoping they will look good. I really like the idea of looking at the picture after it's taken and the option of deleating it if it doesn't turn out. My only complaint is that it doesn't zoom. (older modle I'm guessing) I want to be able to take pictures for example: my children on a ride at WDW and be able to see for my self it's my kid and not have to guess. (especially for layouts too)
My question to all of you is what in your opinion is the best digital camera? Do you prefer it over the traditional camera? Since I haven't yet seen photos processed from a digital if you take them to a photo lab, will they look like regular picture, (quality)

I do love my regular camera, has zoom lens and takes great pics but I don't really want to always hold on to 2 cameras especially on vacation. My family would think I'm nuts "Okay got you with this camera hold still let me grab the digital now"
Would love to hear what you all think.

I love my Nikon Coolpix. I don't even take my 35 mm anymore. Mine has a 3X optical zoom and it's nice. I'd love to have more zoom - like 10 X maybe. The prices are much higher for those models though. I take my compact flash card to Walgreens to make prints on their machine. They turn out great. Sometimes I also download them on to a CD. I have also ordered prints on-line from Yahoo! photos. I waited a long time to buy this camera and now I wonder why I waited so long!:D

I did a search for Nikon Coolpix digital camera, and I came up with
a Nikon Coolpix 5400. Price was $599.95

Is this the camera your'e talking about? I read up on it, sounds really good!!!

Not being smart about digis an all, how many photos will your digi hold? The card in my will only hold 28 or so, but a friend of mine said he bought a memory stick? His will hold something like 300 pictures.

If I bought a memory stick, is it compatable with all digi's. Wouldn't that be awesome to take on vacation. My mother in law said she always has to take her lap top on vacations to download her pics. so she can take more.

I have an Olympus C750, it has a 10x zoom and I really do like it. Since I've had my digital I haven't taken any pictures with my 35mm. Although you can zoom in on things like your kids on a ride actually getting the picture isn't that easy. With the shutter delay and that many of the rides won't allow pics there are very few times I've actually gotten their picture on a ride. The ride I've gotten the most from is Kali River Rapids because they like to ride on their own and the bridge makes a great ride photo spot.

I haven't printed any pictures from my camera but would expect them to be as good or better than those taken with a regular camera. One advantage is that you can crop before it is printed so you would only print the picture you really want.

I've taken about 1000 pictures on our last 2 WDW trips, I'll only print the ones I plan to scrapbook.

Check this website for some great digital information.

DIGITAL CAMERA TIPS

I just bought a Sony DSC-V1. It has a 4xoptical zoom. I just used it to take pictures from the track in Kansas. My pictures turned out great! I bought 2-256mb memory sticks (I believe Sony is the only brand that uses the sticks, but I'm not sure) and mine held about 175 pics. I don't plan on using my 35mm anymore (it was about dead anyway!). The pictures were incredible and I just finished scrapping those pages. :smooth:

I have the Panasonic Lumix, 10X zoom. I love this camera and my photos look awesome! The camera is very easy to use. Because of the lens size the camera is not real small, but it is lightweight.

Not to get off subject, but you said you took pictures at the track in Kansas. How funny not sure if you are talking about Kansas Speedway or not but Dh and I have been to a few races, nascar, indy, and craftsman truck races at Kansas Speedway.

Keep all the good camera reviews coming, I need all the help I can get.

Janette, wow good site! Lots of information. ::yes::

kaekae - My DH and I are season ticket holders at the Kansas Speedway so we've been going to the track since it opened. My dad owns 2 seats next to us, so it is a family event! It can be very HOT during the July events! :sunny:

My DH was very concerned that the IRL and trucks would be going by too fast to get good, clear pictures, but that was not the case. Even he was very impressed when I brought home the developed pictures. ::yes::

I went out and purchased an Olympus 400 Stylus last year. It has lots of different features and a zoom to 5x. I love the camera, but I have a Samsung ECX1 Panorama 35mm that takes the best photo. I get both developed for my scrapbooks and there's a big difference. The Samsung are awesome. I never go anywhere without my digital, but I love the photo's from my 35mm so much more.

How funny!::yes:: It's a small world after all. My Mil & some of the family have I think around 12 seats. So when not every one plans to go she always offers my dh and I a seat. But I have a little one so I haven't gone much. I know what ya mean about HOT! Last year we went while I was pregnant and I almost had a heat stroke. 2 years ago we went to Ford Nationals in St. Louis, noticed that's where you are from in your signature, it was fun!

Well I have been doing my research on digi cameras. I still haven't got one in mind yet, so keep the good reviews coming

Hi,

I have the Olympus Camedia C-3040ZOOM 3.3 Megapixel. I've had it for 3 years now. I really like the camera and the pictures are very clear. Everybody always comments on how great they are. I even took pictures of my friends cake at her wedding and they came out much better than the photographers. The only thing I dislike about the camera is shutter speed. It can be slow especially when trying to get an action shot. But I've really learned to anticipate for those moments. Also, I highly recommend you get rechargeable batteries. I use the ones by Rayovac that recharge in 15 minutes. It even has an adapter for the car too. But usually on a busy vacation day I only go through one set of batteries. Also, I bought 128 MB cards that hold 170 plus or minus pictures. I believe, they have some that hold more but when I priced them last they weren't cheap. I have about 6 photo cards. The only bad thing about digital for me too is I take way more pictures than normal. Plus, I must develop them all. I am just anal that way. I definitely delete the bad pictures but I develop the rest and put in regular photo albums. So, it is much harder to keep up with scrapbooking especially with all the pictures. Finally, once you pick a camera, READ the manual. It will save you a lot of headache. I learned a lot in the manual.

Good Luck!

We've never went to the Nationals basically because of the heat. Our first year at Kansas was 115 in the grandstands. :earseek: I thought I would melt!!

Since we are already OT, where are your seats located? We are on the turn 4 side of the start/finish line. We are at the edge of the suites/media boxes about 8 rows or so from the top. My DH has the aisle seat. Will you be there in October? Maybe we could plan a mini-meet! :wave2:

Not sure right off hand where the seats are located. But next time I talk with my mil I'll be sure to ask her:D
