Digital Camcorder, should we get one?

We were looking at digital camcorders this evening and are considering getting one. We liked the fact that is was half the size of our reg camcorder, and the fact we could download it onto a disc, but unfortunately since we don't have a dvd burner we couldn't do that. If you have one of these is it worth the expense? What do you like and don't like about it compared to the reg camcorders?

The digital camcorder was the first camcorder we ever bought so we can't really compare it very well. However, we totally love it. We copy all the video we take to VHS since we don't have a burner either and the video comes out crystal clear with great sound. We have just recently started uploading it to the computer and that is fun. My answer is yes - buy one.

The quality of the picture is like night and day. If you have enough memory and disc space, you can also edit the videos on your computer. I've helped DD do a few for class assignments.

I got one for Christmas and I love it. Of course I am comparing it to the monster that we bought 14 + years ago. It was so large that I could hardly use it without a tripod.
