Digital Advice - Kodak

My DH and I have used a film camera for the past three years of DW vacations. The first year (our engagement) I paid too much for 1-hour prints at Wal-Mart and they were missing prints. The second year (our honeymoon) the photos were ruined by Target 1-hour processing. The third year (our anniversary) I still have not processed the film - just waiting for them to be destroyed.

Although I think I still prefer film, this experience has led me to want to use a digital camera. My father has a Kodak Z730 digital camera, but it seem like the flash (on auto) is too much and washing out the photo. Anyone with a similar camera and/or problem? I don't want to get to DW and be completely disappointed with the photos - again.

Look at some of the other "need help choosing" a digital camera threads. Kodak doesn't make the best quality digital cameras. IMO opinion there is a big segment of the market that Kodak point and shoots are good for, but others here will strongly disagree.

What kind of film camera are you using. IMO, my ancient 1mp Sony digital camera gave better results than my mom's old Kodak film p&s.

What is your budget? what exactly are you looking for, zoom? enlargements?

Canon and Nikon both get good reviews. I've been happy with my Sony's.

Actually, I am not really thinking of buying a digital camera this year. I was just planning on borrowing my dad's for the week. I was trying to save some money on processing film. (Really tight DW budget this year.) But, I didn't know if anyone had any tips for the Kodak line of digital cameras.

I would love to think about one for Christmas and will use the board for research. It is great actually reading reviews from people who use the cameras on a regular basis.
