Hi my question is we always get the DDP when we go on holiday with our children and my mother,
Last yr the children only wanted to do a few table service meals ie charecter onces and my mum didnt want to really go out at night! instead she prefers to stay in with the children, I have read that a family that booked together but stayed in diffrent rooms managed to have diffrent dining plans, when i asked last yr i was told this wasnt possible!
I realy would like to know if this is a definate as my mum insists she only wants the QSD (even though we always pay for her holiday so its not about cost) and she says that really the children do not need the DDP plan either just the quick service then pay out of pocket for the charecter ones they want, My hubby and i definatly want the DDP as we enjoy going out to dinner or lunch most days, so If the kids and my mum are on one room? and my hubby and i and maybe the oldest child in the other can we get diffrent plans for each room! any help appreciated Thanks

I don't see why that wouldn't be possible! the thing is, I think they need to be 2 seperate reservations. you could try to "link" them together, (as for connecting or adjopining rooms, or even 2 rooms close to each other.) but that would not be a guarantee, only a request.

that is just my thoughts... anyone else know for sure?
good luck!!

you should be fine. Keep in mind that if you are trying to book with a PIN code then you must get the same dining plan for both rooms. As long as you book one room in your mother's name, they have no reason to even know you are related. They may not be able to accomodate a request for rooms near each other, but there is really no guarentee that you would have adjoining rooms even if it was booked as one reservation.

Why don't you just book everyone on the regular dining plan, let her use your counter service meals and you use her table services. The kids plan isn't enough of a price difference to matter, and that way you get an extra table service meal out of the deal.

Yes, it is possible if you have two separate room reservations. However, the guests in one room won't be able to use their plan to buy meals for the guests in the other room.

The kids price is actually the SAME unless its during peak season.

Hey I noticed somebody said that we wouldnt be able to purchuse meals for the other room on our key to the world card, we always have one room in my mothers name and one in ours and then the boys just sleep where ever as they like to sleep with both of during the holiday! the thing is when eating out at Table service meals they have sometimes just taken everyvbodys meal points of one card??? It never matters to us and since you can use your points however then i never have had a problem as if we ran low on one room card we just switched to the other! but like i said they have always been in diffrent names just booked together as we pay for everything, So how would they know if we used the cards to mix and match up the meals like another posted said to do???

Bring a card for both rooms if you have people from each room dining together. The rule is that they should not let you purchase more meals than you have persons on your key card and there is no guarantee you'll be allowed to.

Has this been within the last year or so? They changed the rules (didn't really change them, just decided to make the CMs start enforcing them) about a year or so ago. Now you are only supposed to be allowed to order the number of meals that you have people listed in your room. In other words, if your KTTW card says 2A 1C then you can only order 2 adult meals and 1 child's meal. I know when we were there April 30th-May 8th we ate alot of meals with a fellow solo DISer. At every meal we were asked if we were on the DDP, then were asked for our room key. At times our friend did not pull hers out quick enough (ours was on my lanyard, so I just raised it up for the waiter to see). The waiter just looked at our room key. They would then make the comment that the room key was showing just two people on the DDP, so only two of us were eligible to use it. Our friend would then have to show her key.

I don't think this applies to what the OP would be doing. Say they have 2 parents, grandma and a kid going. They buy the regular dining plan for all of them, for 2 days. Parents want to eat table service, kids and grandma want counter service. Parents could eat 3 table service meals while kids and gma stayed at the resort and had counter service.

The only thing gma would be losing out on would be her mug, other than that, she is using the parents counter services and the parents are using her table service.

That would be a good way to do it and have everyone on the same plan. Book 2 rooms under 1 reservation, same plan. If they decide to do seperate plans then they would be totally seperate, and couldn't share credits. Grandma's room couldn't use the quick service credits from the OP's room.

Being on the same plan and just dividing up who is using which credits may be easier.

Hi yes it was September for 3 wks, we was all on the same dining plan,1 room had 1 adult and 2 children the other had 2 adults and 1 child just the way the computer worked out the room arrangements for us,But my mums room was in her name whilst my room in my name, lik i said they always just said how many am i taking off and thats what they did, sometimes my mum would take all 3 kids to eat with her but we would have the card with 1 of the children on since we was eating at another place and they always took the card, maybe we was just lucky with te way it worked out??? we was only using the same amount of credits by the end of the holiday,I do wonder how if they have changed it that my mum will be ablt to take all the boys to eat with her at the resort if they put a child on our card again and we eat at another place!!! Anyways think ill get us all the same plan and just use the credits she doesnt want to eat in the Signature places:) as its not because she wants her mug she actually buys us all one at the start of our holiday, and has done since the mugs started, she just didnt want to be dragged out at her age (79) every single night but she really enjoys taking the boys to eat at the QS and putting them to bed
