I heard there are different PERKS on the DCL depending on your Cabin Selection! Is this True and What are they? We were on the Maiden Voyage:crowded: and it was a mess:crazy:, but going back for a 7 day Eastern Cruise in November for my Daughters 18th Birthday:bday:. For only 30.00 they Decorate your stateroom and give you a really great Gift . I was just wondering if there are other perks we would be asking for or Change our Stateroom to give us better perks. Anyone Know?? :earsgirl:

The only difference would be if you booked a suite, categories 1,2, & 3. Other than that, all the rooms receive the same ammenities and services.

When we when on the Magic (Maiden Voyage) We found this really cool box on the maids cart for trash. We asked the castmember then scooped it up, but do not know anything about it. The Castmember did not know either who was cleaning the room. It still had a few snack that they did not want in it. It was really cool treasure box (I think)full of snack and goody. We used it for memorabilia from our Disney trips. It looked like a crated box with grass in it and a few snacks. WE never saw anything thing like that on the room service. Anyone know if it is a welcoming gift for suites.:confused3:

On my Cat 6 Wonder land/sea cruise last May, plates of goodies labled "From your Concierge Team" kept appearing on the table in my stateroom. I was certain that someone had made a mistake and checked, first with my stateroom host, then with Guest Services. Nope, no mistake... ??? so, I shared them around...even had a party in the laundry on deck 7, I think it was...
Then, in December, on the 10-day holiday cruise on the Magic I got bowls of fruit and plates of cookies/cheese and petits fours...once again, no mistake...Once again, Category 6... ?? Pixie dust....

I think any perks are just a matter of luck. When we stayed in a category 11 we didnt make it to dinner 1 night(DS had a meltdown on the way in). Our waiter showed up at our door with all kinds of food from the dining room(after we had ordered room service, LOL). That service is usually reserved only for concierge guests, but we were lucky and had a great waiter who wanted to go above and beyond. :goodvibes

We got that box on our May '02 cruise from our travel agent Dreams. It used to be one of the things you could pre-order before your boarded. I think they have since done away with it. We just use our box to store our cruise stuff in (like our masks and snorkels).

We've been on 12 cruises on the Magic, in categories 6 - 11. I've really never noticed any differences based on category. On one cruise, our room steward gave my daughter a gift that she said the cruise line had given to cast members. On our most recent cruise, the cruise director sent food goodies to our cabin in honor of my 50th birthday (on the cruise). I did recognize the goodies as one of the concierge gifts that are standard in cat 1-3.

Occasionally, travel agents send gifts to staterooms, but the only "standard" thing I'm aware of is the concierge goodies in cat 1-3..

Does anyone know if DU is sending gifts out anymore? Last cruise we got a nice box with a picture frame and some other htings in it. The box was great for packing all the picutres in to take home without bending them!

I transfered my Disney Ressie to DU and cruised 10/9/04......we also received the box w/frame free from DU. I looked it up online and it is called a Bon Voyage memory box and Disney sells it for $30.

Of course this box could be used for other items, but a stateroom gift we ordered for our DD (pooh slippers, books and something else) came in this box. We too folded it flat and packed it home, still have it today. I think DCL has a link somewhere on their site that shows these.

For our homeymoon we were in a cat 11 and didn't think about getting any gifts or perks. However we got a memory box, special pins and a frame. I guess it all depends on your room host.

OMG we stayed in a cat 6 on the wonder in July 2002 and got those same type of things. Cookies and chocolate milk one night, choco strawberries and a choco ship and other stuff the next night.

Funny, we didnt have anything waiting for us from DU on our Feb 05 Cruise.............
