Different Opening Hours in Aug for Seaworld

We are staying at disney on the free ddp

We decided on our first visit to seaworld we would do the VIP tour and leave around 7 - then have a disney meal.

The second time we visit (week later) to go to seaworld around 11am and stay until closing.

I have now seen today that seaworld shuts at 10pm on our first visit and 8pm on our second.

What I was wondering is what shows you get on in the evenings which are not on during the day.............. and also whether there will be more shows if the park stays open til 10pm.

Also do they do fireworks or any finale of the day show?

Also do you think they are shutting at 8pm (19th august ish) because the children are back to school and the parks will therefore be quieter.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - do not know now whether should cancel the dinner on our first visit and stay until 10pm

You'll be able to see the show schedule on the web site closer to the time of your visit. The night shows are fantastic. I especially love Shamu Rocks and Sea Lions tonight (a parady of the other Sea World shows -- really a hoot). Sea Lions tonight is only offered in the summer too. I'm guessing they will probably offer these on both of your days. They will do a night time water show both days too. Summer is high season and I think you'll have good show offerings every day.

Is your first day a Saturday by any chance? Sea World is crazy busy on Saturdays in the summer and I can sure see why they'd do late hours. And if this is a Saturday, you sure picked a great day to do a VIP tour. Without the VIP tour, a week day visit is definately the way to go.

Shamu Rocks starts with 8pm closings. Definatly a must see.

Sea Lions Tonite and Mystify starts with 10pm closings. The sea lion show is the best to watch, and usually happens during the first shamu rocks show. The fireworks... just watch from the parking lot on your way out. They really aren't that great unless they've improved it once again this summer.

So are you saying that it will be ok to keep the itinerary as it is and we will not miss anything by leaving early on the 10pm shutting day???

Sea Lions tonight and the other night time only show(can't remember its name right now) and fireworks show offered in the summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day will definitely be on the night the park closes at 10, but not sure if it will be on during the 8 PM closing. Shamu Rocks will be on at closing either night.
Fireworks won't show up at 8 in August so I am actually surprised they are showing an 8PM closing in August. Maybe time for closing will change before then. I thought in past years they kept the later closing time till Labor Day. Check as time gets closer.

Yes, the reason for the 8PM closing could be because kids are in school. Usually during the summer, the park is open until 10pm from memorial day to labor day. This is the first year they are trying an 8pm closing in late August. It will be interesting to see how it goes. They will probably offer a 7:30 Shamu Rocks Show. Im not sure if they will offer fireworks though because like one poster said, its to bright in August at 8pm for fireworks. I would go all day your first visit. You will be guaranteed to see all the shows offered in the summer. With an 8:00 closing, im not sure which shows will be offered. The night shows are must sees.
