We are looking into adding on and are trying to decide if it would be better to stay with our current home resort or add on at a different resort. Here is the question: If you have points from two resorts, can you book at the 11 month window at one using the points from both? Thanks

No, the 11 month priority is only good for the points owned at a specific resort. You can't combine points from different resorts until 7 months. You can, however, use a combination of current, banked and borrowed points to have 3 years worth of points from a single resort for a trip every 3 years. If you purchase 75 points at a second resort, you would have 225 points available every 3 years available for use at 11 months.

The only reason to own at more than one resort is when you want an 11 month booking resort at each resort. As Doc said, the points can't be combined until the 7 month booking window.

Well, there is another reason to own at multiple resorts too. As you add on, incentives for one resort may make financial sense along with the maintenance fee differences. Definitely the 11 month priority is the big reason though.

We just went thru the same decision and in fact I asked the very same question on the DisBoards a few months ago. We ended up adding on 100 points at our home resort (AKV) just to keep things simple. Plus if we ever wanted to do concierge or savannah view, I wanted enough points to book those categories. I am very happy with our decision. Going forward I will not always want to stay at AKV - but if I have to for some reason and can't get in anywhere else at 7 months - that is fine with me. Good Luck! :goodvibes

As more resort are added the statement "buy where you want to stay" become ever more important, especially at the smaller resorts

Before adding at a second resort, I'd suggest making sure you have enough points at your first resort to cover (with banking and borrowing) the largest point reservation you might make.

Thank you everyone for the responses, just the info I needed. We are very happy with Kidani and have enough points for a week in a 2BR during the high season every year. The reason we are thinking of adding on is because we also LOVE to cruise and our current points don't allow us to do that very often. I know that many of you feel that using points for cruises is not a very efficient use of them, but for us, it works. I'm thinking of adding on at BLT for several reasons including lower maint. fees and the proximity to the MK if we decide stay there. Just kicking around ideas. Again, thanks for the info.

I know you said that adding points to cruise works for you and that is what is important - but you may want to do the math again. Don't forget about the maint. fees for those added points. That being said I'm thinking of adding point too - and now you have me thinking about a cruise. :thumbsup2
