Different DDP in same room

I know typically everyone in the room has to be on the same plan, but does that apply if all the people are not staying for the full reservation? My mom and I are staying for a week, but my dad is joining us for two nights. Will he have to get the DDP? If so, is it only for the two nights? Will he also have to get MYW tickets?

Thanks!

From what i've read you have to pay all the days of the reservation whether or not he is there :confused3 I have the same issue since my mom will be there 4 out of the 7 nights -I stil have the pay like she is there the whole time you could look to see what would happen if you split the stay but for me that actually costs more..can't get anything past Disney:rotfl2:

:)MIL just booked our rooms and the DDP. My BIL will only be with us the first 4 nights. She put the room in her name, could not put him on the DDP since he was not staying the whole trip. The reservation CM just said he would have to buy his park ticket when he got there and could not do the dining plan--so he will be OOP. It is confusing but I know that he is not on the DDP like we are.......:headache:

You cannot mix and match dining plans or book a partial dining plan for all or selected guests. Everyone registered on your reservation must pay for the same dining plan for the full length of the reservation. Everyone registered on a package reservation must also buy the same type and length of park ticket (although it's possible to buy tickets that fit the schedule of the person staying the least time, and then upgrade the tickets of the guests staying longer, but there is no way around the requirement that everyone buy the same dining plan for the length of the reservation)

In the above scenario, to put the brother in law on the reservation with the dining plan would mean they would have to pay for the plan for him for the full length of the reservation, not just for the 4 nights he would be present.

(I would check and see if she can even put the brother in law's name on the reservation since he would not be purchasing tickets or dining plan with the room package. If his name is not on the reservation, he won't receive his own key card and would not be able to make use of Magical Express for airport transportation.)

Thanks for all the great info everyone. So if I understand this correctly, if we add my dad to the reservation (currently it's just mom and I), he'll have to get the DDP for the whole week. Does the same go for the tickets? What if we just add him on when we check in? He really doesn't want the plan or tickets. And if he does have to get the DDP, can we use his credits after he leaves?

If you add him now as a guest on a package reservation that includes tickets and DDP, he must purchase the dining plan for the length of stay AND he must purchase the same type and length of theme park ticket as everyone else on the reservation.

You could buy a one-day ticket for all of you and then upgrade yours. You'd have a one-day ticket left over if your dad does not intend to use any park tickets, but they never expire. It doesn't matter what type or length of ticket you buy, but everyone in the room must buy tickets of the same type and length.

If you get the dining plan, and he is on the reservation, you'll have to get the dining plan for him, too - for the full length of the stay. Yes, after he leaves you can use the credits.

I do not know if you will be permitted to add him to the reservation when you check in. (If you plan to use the Magical Express airport transportation service, he will not be able to use it unless he is registered on the reservation before you arrive.)

I've done this before, so I know it can be done.

If your Dad is joining you during your trip, when he gets there, just go to the front desk, tell them you have another guest for 2 nights, not a problem if you're within your room occupancy limits. The front desk CM should charge you the extra adult charge for 2 nights. You can buy him a ticket at the parks and just pay OOP for his meals.

If he needs to use Magical Express, this should also not be a problem. You can call the ME line directly and arrange for his bus when he arrives. They will ask for your confirmation number and such.

Thanks all!! I think that's exactly what we'll do. I wanted to find a way to pay the extra surcharge (because I wouldn't want to cheat Disney out of any money :rolleyes1), but dad is happy just to relax by the pool all day (not a big park fan :confused3).

Maddee.....I know what you mean....lol!!!! Not always Disney that thinks you are cheating.
