Different availability for AAA rate??

I have a room only reservation for AS Movies Jan. 2-4. Today I was looking at Disney's website and noticed they had availability at POP (where we wanted to stay originally but it was full). I called my AAA agent to see if she could switch us. She called Disney and called me back saying POP was availabile -- but only at full price -- all the AAA discount rooms were sold out.

I hadn't realized before that there was different availability (though it makes sense since with deals like 4/3 that is the case.)

Do you think I would get any different results by calling Disney myself and trying to book a room with the AAA rate (can you even do this?) Is there a way to check rooms with AAA rate online -- so that if something becomes available I can call the agent and get it switched without calling her like everyday just to check and see?

Thanks for the help!!

Yes, you can do that. Sometimes what AAA shows as being available isn't what you can get if you ask CRO for a AAA discount, and vice versa. CRO can apply the AAA discount on rooms, but you will not be going through a AAA agent then.

I am not sure, since I haven't asked, if the AAA discount has to be for RO ressies only or if you can book a package that way too. I wouldn't think you could though. You can check on line through the AAA travel section on their webpage for discounts, but again, what CRO shows as available and what AAA shows can be two different things. I would call CRO and just ask them directly. :goodvibes

You can only book a package with a AAA discount on the room through AAA. You can book a room-only reservation with a AAA discount through AAA or Disney.

Every discount (AAA, 4/3, free dining, PIN codes, whatever) has limited availability at each resort. You may be able to get a room, but some discounts may be sold out.

This is absolutely correct - CRO and AAA may show different availability for the same dates. My guess is that a certain number of rooms are blocked for AAA to sell directly. When I took DD in September, I called CRO to book a room - I couldn't get ASMu (which is where she wanted to stay)with the AAA discount, but I could get ASSp, so I booked that. For the heck of it, I later checked the AAA website, and they were showing availability for ASMu with the discount, but not ASSp. I thought about booking the room through AAA and cancelling through CRO, but I had already told my daughter I could only get ASSp., and she was fine with that, so I left the reservation as it was.

as a AAA member, you can go online via AAA and get room availability and even book with AAA discount.

Not necessarily. Each regional AAA area apparently has its own website. The Southern New England sight requires that you contact a AAA agent to get any info.

correct! They block off certain number of rooms to places like AAA, BJ's basically places that are offering those packages other than WDW. That is how hot wire can give better discounts closer to the time because the unreserved rooms they buy and then give at a big discount to customers. Something I picked up in Travel and Tourism class.
