Have the opportunity tomorrow to book the Queen Victoria room for my 25th anniversary.

2 Questions.

What is the main difference between the 2 rooms, is it worth the difference in price?

Also for anyone who has eaten at Remy is the food close in comparison?

Thanks

Steve

I've done both (but can never get a reservation for Chef's Table because I can't plan very far in advance), and I prefer the regular dining room and don't feel guilty about the upcharges. If I'm there might as well spring for caviar, and I hurt myself eating all of the 7 course plus caviar even if I eat almost nothing all day.

Its excellent. I don't cruise, but you won't be disappointed. I've been very impressed with the wine pairings. Have a lovely evening and congrats!

I don't think you can go wrong at V&A. I have done the QVR. My daughter and son in law did the main dining room. We both had excellent meals.

In the QVR, there are only four tables. You get incredible personal service, because the start times for the four tables are staggered, so it gives the illusion of having two waiters giving your table personal attention all night. The food is excellent, and presented artistically but in small portions. But there are so many courses, the portion size is plenty. THe wine pairings were great. I had them. My wife just had water. There was a 10 course menu when we went. THere are upgrades. YOu can get extra caviar. You can switch from Australian Kobe-type beef to actual Japanese Kobe Beef. Neither upgrade is really necessary. The standard 10 courses are excellent with no upgrades. The waiters are very friendly. They will read you - some people want a lot of interaction and a lot of description of the courses. Other people just want to be left alone. The waiters will give you the experience you prefer.

In the main room, there are 20 or so tables. I haven't eaten there myself so I will not try to describe the experience. I understand that the main dining room offers both a 7 course menu and the 10 course menu. There may be other offerings that I am not aware of.

It is a great option for an anniversary if you can do it without breaking the bank. We don't do it every year, but I can see doing it every 5 years or so.

Are you talking about the difference between the main room and Queen Victoria Room or main room/QVR and Chef's Table? I've never done the Chef's table but we've done main room 6 times and QVR twice. I'll never go back to the main room (unless I can't get the QVR) if I can help it. It's changed a bit. I think you can now get the 10 course menu in the main room (I'm not sure if that's true or not) but you couldn't in prior years, but the QVR is always 10 courses. The attention is so much better in the QVR and the 10 course menu so much more amazing that it is now our preferred room.

Remy's is lovely but I would rank it slightly below V&A's only because they can't always get fresh ingredients. The service and attention to detail, the menu, the wine or champagne pairings are fabulous but because of the lack of ability to get fresh ingredients, it's not quite as good (we're talking marginal difference). But still great. We did the dinner, brunch, and dessert on our last trip and it was fantastic. We also did V&A's QVR the week afterwards and it was even better. It seems to get better every time we go.

DH did the 1-oz caviar upcharge at QVR the last trip (that's the 3rd time he's done that). I'm allergic to seafood but he thinks it's marvelous and looks forward to it every time. At Remy's he did the upcharge white truffle which came with every course and loved it so much he did the white truffle upcharge at V&As afterwards, although it's slightly different. Instead of coming with every course, you get it on a separate platter under glass and you decide what to put it on. He loved both.

V&A is pretty much the highlight of every trip to WDW. We usually sail on the Magic so no Remy for us; it's the only thing I wish the Magic had. But we did get to do it on the Dream and the Fantasy and we will definitely do it again on any of the ships where they have it. Fingers crossed they will put it on the new ships.

EDIT: While we love the QVR, the main room is also very lovely as is the 7 course menu. Harpist playing quietly during dinner (you can hear it slightly in the QVR). The tables are reasonably far apart so you feel quite private. Service is also really great.

I guess I COULD in theory try for the chef's table tomorrow, but, I was thinking QVR.

Thanks for the replies

Difference in price between the two dining rooms is related to the number of courses.

Never been to Remy.

I've never eaten in the Queen's room only the main room, but I don't think you can really go wrong with either. The one thing I like about the main room you can choose between the 7 course or 10 course meals, whereas in the queen's room you can only have the 10. Both meals will be fantastic either way.

We have done the main room and QVR and actually prefer the main room with upcharges, as a previous poster mentioned. I prefer the ambiance in the main room.
