I know, dumb question, right?!

Dh and I have stayed at the Beach Club and absolutely loved it.....I know the Yacht Club is attached but what is the difference between the two resorts? I have heard a lot (both good and not so good) on the Beach Club but very little on the Yacht.....Would someone please enlighten me??:confused3

I've stayed at both. I rate both as 9.5 on the 1-10 scale.

I picked Yacht Club for our 2nd trip, because there were a lot of loud and rambunctious families at Beach Club (luckily, not near our room, but in our hall)

We stayed at Yacht Club and it was more calm and quite (but I've heard that a big convention can spoil this piece and quite)

Beach Club felt and looked more fun
Yacht Club felt and looked more elegant and classy

Beach Club is 5 minutes closer to Epcot.
While staying at Yacht Club, we still eat at Cape May for the character breakfast, and swim in the same pool, eat at the same ice cream shop.

That's it

We had one of our worst rooms at the Yacht club as a garden view- we had parking lot- actually valet view. And as we were under the overhang our room was DARK. We thought it was depressing. But really that was just a bad luck draw on the room.
At the BC we always upped to water view so I can't give an equal comparison. But we loved the bc and have stayed their many times. I found it more kid friendly too.
Adults only quiet resort- Yacht club - Closer to Epcot louder and family friendlier- Beach Club.
Again this was our experience only. I am sure others have had great luck there.

We prefer YC. It has a different feel to it. I guess classy and more elegant describe it well. The "crowd" seems to be a bit older although we have always seen lots of families. The "tone" is a bit different, also. Some say this is because it is a convention hotel. We have only had an issue with this once in the concierge lounge -- the conventioneers decided that they were the only ones that should be in the lounge -- and tried to push most everyone else out. I don't push and we were fine. But, you could tell that they left their manners at home. Was a good lesson for my DS in how NOT to act in public. Conventioneers got the message and did back off a bit so all was well.

Beach Club has a lot more younger families and also has more rooms on that side along with the DVC Beach Club Villas. They also have the marketplace over there and Cape May which draws large crowds of people not staying at the resort. This makes it seem much noiser, etc.

The rooms are the same size and just themed slightly different. BC is available through DCL land/sea packages whereas the YC typically is not.

DH and I are in our 50's, no children, and we give a slight edge to Beach Club. I don't feel that one is considerably better than the other.

You have a better chance of getting a full-sized balcony at the YC, if that is important to you.

One major advantage for the YC is the full balconies. Many balconies at BC are standing room only. The water views at YC have more of a direct lagoon view just based on the way the two resorts sit next to the water. I have stayed at both many times and like both of them but prefer the YC. It's quieter but still kid friendly. My 7 year old son has been 6 times and loves the Sandcastle Club. I prefer the lounge and decor of the YC but that is strictly personal. It's lighter and more my cup of tea. The two resorts are actually a mirror image of each toher as far as layout. BC is closer to Epcot but the marina is directly out the back door of YC which is very convenient to the boat for DHS. The Epoct resorts are my favorite even though I enjoyed AKL very much and have stayed at the Poly twice and many of the moderates.

As mention before, we did stay at the Beach and loved it....at the time it was just DH and myself. We are thinking about staying at the Beach again (but with the children) and I thought about the Yacht Club. I just didn't hear much about the Yacht Club and thought I would ask....

We had a small balcony at the Beach club and it looked over the Bus Stop but We could see Spaceship Earth, so I was okay with that! We were upgraded at no charde to the Concerige Level, that was so cool!!.

Thanks for all the great information. I can understand the little personal things meaning a great deal to a person. We stayed at a resort on our last WDW vacation and I post why I didn't like it......I won't do that again

I had a lot of people upset with me b/c I posted against a Disney Resort.
With that note, I complete understand about the little personal things and thank you all for posting the good, bad, and the ugly!!! ;)
