Difference btwn points for rent/points for transfer

I should know this, but I was reading the trade/rent board since I have points I want to put up for rent. I noticed there are posts offering points for rent (obvious) and points for transfer. What is the difference?

Transferring can only be done between members, and once you transfer the points they belong to the other member. MS says no compensation can be accepted for this (just telling you what they say, not what usually happens in real life). You are allowed 1 transfer (in or out) per year.

Renting is making a reservation for another party with your points. You, the member, retain all control over the reservation and the renter cannot call MS to do anything with the reservation. There is no such thing as renting points, just renting a reservation.

"Points for Rent" means the DVC owner is offering to make a reservation for a renter using their DVC points. "Points for Transfer" means that the owner will only transfer his/her points to another DVC owner's account. "Points for Rent/Transfer" means the DVC owner is willing to either make a reservation for someone or transfer the points to another DVC member.

Sorry to hijack! So as an owner, you can only "transfer" points once a year, but can you make multiple different reservations for people?

Yes, you can only transfer points to another member once per Use Year, but you may make multiple reservations.

Plus you can't transfer borrowed or banked points. Only current year points. So if you have 2010 points, you can transfer them to another member into their 2010 UY. And if you have 2011 points, you can transfer them into another member's 2011 UY. But they cannot borrow them into their 2010 UY.
