Reading about the Toy Story rides in HS & MK, they sound really similar. Am I right? My kids are too little to have any particular attachment to Toy Story, so only doing 1 wouldn't be a huge loss I'm thinking. Do people who've been on both agree?

Thank you!

For the most part, I agree. We rode TSM first and then were disappointed when we rode Buzz later. Definitely ride TSM in HS, it is like a higher tech version of Buzz and more fun IMO.

They are similar in respect that you sit in a vehicle and you shoot at things. Buzz is more JUST about BUZZ and you shoot lazer guns at targets. The whole thing is black lighting. Toy story mania has all the characters and it's in 3D, you wear 3-D glasses and use those pull string guns to shoot at carnival games. I think they are both fun, but if you were to choose only one definitely do toy story mania.

I think which ride is best depends on the age of your kids.

Toy Story Mania is definitely more high-tech and "exciting" but Buzz is excellent also. The thing to consider when you have kids is how jerky the ride is.

Toy Story Mania can be pretty jerky with starts and stops. If you have little ones and had to choose one, I would choose Buzz because the physical experience is calmer - kids won't be thrown around as much - and it's still a great ride.

There is a difference, I prefer TSM. But...my 7 yr old daughter gets very excited about either, so if you perdonally don't care, you might opt for Buzz, since it's always a shorter wait and faster window for FP...

I consider them both 'not to be missed' rides. I love TSM but it's almost impossible to ride it more than twice in one day. The lines are just too long and slow moving. The lines at Buzz move quickly. We always get a FP for Buzz then ride standby. It has always been just a short wait for our FP time. Our last time at MK, we rode Buzz 4 (or 5) times in the first 35 minutes that the park was open.

I would definitely not skip either one just because they are both "Toy Story rides".

#1 difference is the wait times -- Buzz Lightyear in MK usually doesn't have a huge wait and you usually get fast passes throughout most of the day. TSM in HS has a HUGE wait and fast passes are usually gone early on.

Other than that -- TSM in HS is the more technologically advanced ride. Buzz is (or is becoming) outdated in my opinion anyways and the neon paint is nauseating and cheesy.

The que for TSM is so much better than the Buzz Lightyear ride. But we still enjoyed the Buzz ride a lot. I don't think your trip will be any less magical if you can't get on TSM, especially if your child is really young. Don't miss the Little Mermaid show in DHS, it's one of our favorites!

And I thought I was the only one who got a headache looking at all the glowing neon paint in the Buzz que, LOL.

I'm gonna be "that guy" and say I actually like Buzz better. Yes TSM is much much much much much more high tech than Buzz, but my arm is usually totally shot by the time I get off TSM (my girlfriend and I are very competative). With Buzz, my arm doesn't hurt when the ride is over and I like the ability of being able to move our car around on our own. The much shorter wait is also a nice little plus.

In the end, both rides are worth doing. :thumbsup2

Midway Mania simulates classic midway games such as balloon pop and ring toss. Your ride vehicle stops in front of several 3-D screens, each with a unique game.

Buzz is more about fighting aliens. Your vehicle is constantly moving (you can control its facing and even make it spin in circles) and you shoot at light sensors on neon painted targets.

I guess I am the weird person who says I HATE buzz. If I never went on it again i would be thrilled. It is so cheesy and carnival. My local boardwalk has the exact same ride (granted no talking buzz in the line though). TSM on the other hand is top 5 in my book so go figure.

IMO if you are only going to do one with little kids, do Buzz. They won't have to keep glasses on and it is a smoother ride. But, TSM is awesome! If you can do both, it is worth the wait!

Yup, I couldn't agree more.

This thread is very helpful, thanks for asking the question. We have a really little one (will be 19 months when we go)

I think the similarity ends with the Toy Story Theme. The 2 rides are night and day. Buzz in MK is like a little shotting gallery with a lazer coming out of your gun. TSM is much more high tech with the scenes changing and 3-D special effects.
