Difference between Easy Access Card & Disabled Priority Card

Just reading the official access guide this does say that for the Disabled Priority Card the disabled person can be accompanied by one adult helper and up to three children.

If this is strictly enforced then DLP's policy will see any family with a disabled child and two parents split up for large parts of their holiday :sad2: (The same would apparently also apply to a single parent travelling with a disabled child and another child over 12).

The photos posted of the cards and the wording on them does seem to suggest that these apply to adults and DLP's intention is to allow the DPC to operate to allow families to go on rides together. I'm hoping they have simply not properly thought through how the policy would impact familes with a disabled child not a disabled adult.

Is this a new policy? I'm sure the policy was less restrictive when I read it before we booked.

Can anyone advise what the best email address would be to contact DLP to clarify all this?

The new policy came into force on the 10th of Jan 2012.

From feedback on the French sites small family groups have not been split up so 2 parents and up to 3 children seems ok.

What's not ok is the above plus grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins etc etc

They have brought in these mesures apparently to stop the abuse of the old system which was getting out of hand and penalising the people who truely needed assistance

Thanks Carrie_Cat that's very reassuring that in practice both parents are being let on.

I thought the policy had been different when we booked.

Hi Jules

We are going in March so I will definitely let you know how I get on. I spent a lot of time on the phone on Monday trying to get someone/anyone to give me a definite answer, none of theDisney agents I spoke to were aware the disabled access policy had changed and were happy to confirm 1 + 4 until I asked them to explain how that would be written on the new passes. The best I could get once they'd checked the new pass was 'It will be at the discretion of City Hall when you go to get your pass'. I did manage to get the phone number for City Hall but haven't yet called. I think the wording on the new pass needs to change though, it assumes the disabled guest is an adult and allows accompanying people on that basis. A holiday where you spend the whole time split up is no holiday at all.

I do agree that the pass should not be issued for more than 4 + 1 (surely in a larger group people would be prepared to mix and swap for rides) but for compact family units it's unfair.

I use a walker because of the degeneration in my back. I can walk farther with it. Will it be a problem for me? I don't have a disability sticker as my Dr. says that it is really hard to get so why bother. I could walk the line as my walker has a seat on it as I can't stand for long but will my walker be okay while I go on the ride? At WDW I ended up using a scooter as the place is sooooo big and my walker just wasn't good enough.

Thanks. I have sent DLP an email, I will let you know what they reply.

We've just got back last night, there were 2 adults, 3 children, one child who was in a wheelchair. We had no issues at all with the disability pass, and weren't split up, other than rides that my son couldn't go on.

Good to know, thanks.

Hello :goodvibes

You'll be fine with your walker. They'll keep it for you at the side of the ride like they do for wheelchairs. It's inside and they are watched so no pbs with that.

If you can get your doctor to write you a little note but even without one you will be able to go to City Hall and ask for a pass.

DLP is much more doable as it's smaller, much smaller than WDW. You'll have a great trip :goodvibes

Carrie Cat you sound like you would be a great resource for Disney Paris...My dh and I are going to magic circus hotel in March. March 25th to the 31st. He has a conference right at Magic Circus and I am going to be able to go to Disneyland by myself for about 2 days and then on the 30th I think both of us are going to go as his conference ends on the Thursday. I still haven't found out what the opening and closing times are and I don't have tickets. Also confused about the hotel. It isn't a Disney hotel but a partner hotel. What does that mean? Is it like the Swan and Dolphin at DW? We are maybe just my dh want to go and see some things in Paris on the 26th as his conference starts on the 27th. I am just not sure if I will be slowing him down and am not sure where anything is in Paris so don't know how to get to things and what we should see. I am usually so organized when I go on a trip but so much of this trip is out of my control and I really don't know where to get information. I do not speak French much to my dismay (I really wish I could speak it especially coming from Canada) and so much information is in french.

Yes the magic circus is not disney owned but classed as a partner hotel - this means its 'recomended' by Disney and they use it in their packages etc. There are 4 hotels all on the same site- about 5 minutes away - Magic Circus being one of them.

A good site to get information about DLP is DLP magic. You can find the opening hours on there and a lot of information about the rides.

http://www.dlrpmagic.com/

You could consider a bus tour of Paris as this would allow you to see the main sites with little walking
There is one leaves from DLP but Im not sure if its everyday or you could get the RER (train) into central Paris , get off at Auber station and there is a bus company there that run the hop on/off buses

Just to update, this is the reply I got from DLP:-

"Dear

Thank you for your recent e-mail requesting information concerning Disneyland® Paris.

Do not worry all the family (You, your wife, your son and your daughter) could take advantage of the Easy Access Card.

In order to have this card you should provide an invalidity card or medical certificate issued less than 3 months ago signed and stamped by the doctor, certifying your child's disability and stating whether or not he needs to be accompanied by a third party in order to get around.

Best regards,"
