Difference between dvc cash rooms and rooms on websites...

I am trying to book a night or two using cash (with the dvc discount) but whenever I call MS, there is nothing available. However, sometimes I see DVC rooms on the regular Disney booking website or external sites like Orbitz. I've also seen rooms on Orbitz but not on the regular Disney site. I know cash rooms can't be booked on points but is there a separate inventory of cash rooms as well so that we are unable to use our discount on them? It also seems strange that Orbitz would have inventory that Disney doesn't. For example, I saw a room at Kidani on Orbitz but there is no availability when I call DVC and it doesn't show up on the Disney site. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

Orbitz inventory is completely separate from Disney's. In Disney's system, any rooms released to Orbitz are not available.

DVC release rooms to CRO in phases. CRO release inventory to resellers in phases. Once released to a reseller, it has to be put back in inventory if sent back to Disney.

There's not a lot of availability. I called the day after I received the offer and there wasn't much to choose from.

Haha! I actually read that link before I posted my question but it didn't answer my question.

I know that the rooms that Disney offers are a different inventory than the ones the MS has access to for DVC reservations, points or cash. So, while it may show a room from Disney, it is not the same for DVC members.

Thanks. This is where my confusion was. I didn't realize there were so many different inventories, Disney, DVC, Orbitz, etc.
