In your case it's not much of a bump. The standard rooms at the AKL are four square feet larger than those at the CBR, but because they have two queens in them they actually feel smaller.
They overlook the parking lot, some are actually directly on the path you take to get to the bus stop.
That said, the AKL itself is gorgeouos, and the ability to view the animals is incredible. There are plenty of viewing areas you can use even though you won't see them from your room.
The corridors are interior as opposed to outside, nice when the weather is inclement, you'll get off the bus at a covered stop, walk under a canopy all the way into the lobbby.
The gift shop at the AKL is the best on WDW property, it's an incredible infusions of African themed items and Disney themed items.
The lobby at the AKL is jaw dropping. Simply stunning.
Otherwise it's about the same at either resort. I would still take the AKL over the CBR only to get the queen beds as opposed to the doubles.
