Hi,
Just curious- I can't see any difference in the description of cat 8 & 9- in fact they are listed together with same description/picture on DCL website.... yet there is a difference in price between the two categories. Can someone please tell me what the difference is that would justify the price difference?
Right now we have cat 9 booked- curious what the difference is with cat 8....

One difference is the location on the ship. The Cat. 8s are located on the upper decks; the 9s on the lower. Just like the Cat 5s are higher than the Cat 6s. It also seems like I may have read the portholes are different, but I can't remember.

The portholes are the same (one big round one). The different ones are on deck 1 in Cat. 9. I have photos of them on my website.
The only major difference for me is that there is a lot more potential for noise on deck 2 (i.e. the clubs overhead). But then again, I am prejudiced in favor of deck 5 anyway. :D

Ohh, okay. So the difference is where they are located. Okie dokie- thank you both for letting me know!
I prefer the lower deck (since I couldn't get connecting rooms on deck 5 with the clubs/labs- that was my 1st preference) since I'm hoping that will feel less motion... not sure if we'll get motion sickness or not.
I don't think the clubs will bother us... my family can sleep through anything and I'm a nightowl, I probably won't even attempt to go to sleep until the clubs are closed. LOL
