Difference between a DC studio and DQ?

A fellow DVCer/ friend just returned from a trip to her "home" BCV, where she and her family stayed in a 2-bedroom dedicated unit. She asked me yesterday if I was aware of the difference between DC rooms and DQ rooms. I had no idea what she was talking about. She continued to explain that they were told after they checked-in that some of the studios in 2-bedrooms are classified DC rooms and have 1 double bed and a pull out sofa, while other studios are classified DQ rooms and have 2 double beds, no sofa.

Being unaware that there were two choices in studio set-ups, my question is, "Is this the case in all of the DVC resorts?" We own at the BWV and stayed in a 2-bedroom with what I now assume was a DC studio. Are there DQ studios at BWV, VWL & OKW? Just curious, for as my sons get older, the DQ set-up would be much better for us.

The way I understand it. The studios all have 1 bed and one sofa bed. There are some 2 bedroom unit which are designated "dedicated" which do have a 2nd bed in the second bedroom, but these rooms cannot be used as a separate studio, as there is no separate entrance.

The only DVC to offer 2 beds in the studios is OKW

Because of a mix up, BCV has three type of 2 BR. These are lockoff's which have a queen and pull out full in the second BR. About a third of the dedicated 2 BR have 2 queen beds and the other 2/3 have a queen plus pull out queen. The setup was supposed to be like VWL with all dedicated having 2 queens but they messed up and couldn't go back and change all rooms so they swapped out the love seat for a full size couch (pullout) to meet the technical legal requirements, pretty weak in my book. All units at BWV are lockoff's with a pullout full (love seat).

As mentioned above, the different options are only in the 2nd bedroom of dedicated 2-bedroom units (and that's due to an error in DVC planning). All the studios at all the WDW resorts have a queen and pull-out sofa EXCEPT OKW which offers two queen size beds. There are times when it is nice to have the two beds.

When you reserve a 2-bedroom at BCV, be sure to let them know your preference. They assign the rooms with 2 beds at the time you make your reservation.

Thank you so much for all of the helpful replies. I have a better understanding of the configurations now.:)
