We booked seperately 8 days at Dolphin and a 4 day cruise . . . out of curiosity, I just looked back on a quote I had received for the land/sea package. With 8 days at the Dolphin + the 4 night cruise, we are spending $700 less than we would have for 3 day/4 night cruise land/sea package!! :cheer2: I couldn't believe it! Might be helpful for anyone looking into whether or not to book package or seperate!

We just returned from our stay at Dolphin and then the cruise, and we did the same thing. Booking each part of the vacation separately really saved us a lot of $$ also. Hope you have a great trip.:thumbsup2

Pricing depends on when you're traveling, # of people in your stateroom and what type of room you booked.........if you got a qoute on an inside room and staying at a deluxe hotel then the pricing would definitely be different

I think it must be dependant on a lot of factors.

We are doing a land/sea in December of 2008, with a category 7 and staying at the Poly. Of course the L/S includes tickets as well.

Just for fun, I priced things out the exact same way (Same cruise, category &, same nights at the Poly, GV, same tickets to the parks). We are saving $800+ by booking the package!

Glad that you could save money by NOT booking the package, though!

I also feel alot can effect the price. We booked in February for our May 2008 land/sea package. At this point WDW hadn't released prices for 2008. (we were considering doing the dining plan so that was a big push to book seperatly) Once the prices were released (not that long ago), I did go back and compare and it was much more to book seperately at that point because the cruise price had gone up quite a bit. We booked a catagory 6 and staying at the AKL. To get close to the same price when I was comparing, we would have had a catagory 12 and staying at a value resort. I'm glad we did the land/ sea combo. Extra bonus: Now land and sea cruisers can add on dining plan and we did the day it was announced here on DIS!!

Well, just to add some fuel to the fire I too did a cost comparison between my 4 nite land / 3 nite sea package and "a la cart" for the same time and my package is the savings for me.

Package; for 2 ppl Cat 5 stateroom incl transfer, no Insurance = $3333.00

a la cart; 2 ppl, Cat 5 stateroom, incl transfer, no Insurance = $1923.62
4 nites Poly $1687.00
7 day park hopper pass @ 2 adults $562.32
Total: $4172.94

Savings with package: $839.94

I might as well: :)

We saved $1000 booking the package through an outside website. I compared the package rate to DCL website, and it was only like $200 difference. When I compared a la carte, it a $1000 difference. Crazy!!

I'm even saving money by not doing the DDP.

BUT I am glad you saved however it happened!! :) :) have fun :) :)
