Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

I think each meet sort of made up their own rules. The one I participated in, the SM was just for adults. The idea is that the grownups who don't get excited about stickers, etc. from the FE gifts would enjoy getting something special from a SM. We were asked to make 3 deliveries throughout the cruise and spend about $30 total. For example, DH and I both got stacks of our favorite chocolate/candy on the first delivery, we got a DL pin and a customized deck of cards (with our sail date & picture of CC), and a Minnie Mouse doll and Mickey watch. DH gave his SM some Star Trek stuff, a bottle of wine and something else. I gave my SM a cubs hat, a DL pin and candy. We had a spreadsheet that we put in some of our favs items as ideas for our SMs. I can probably create a form on the website that can track that info if we go down that path of SMs.
We'll do it too. Do you think we need that many gifts, since we are already doing all the FE gifts? What about 1, possibly 2, gifts, with a $10-15 suggested limit? Just a suggestion.

Cayla,
Since you cruise frequently, can you please tell me if DLC still has staggered dining? I remember that early seating use to be 5:15, 5:30, or 5:45 (I think) and late 8:00, 8:10 and 8:45.Or is there now one time for early and one time for late?
Thanks!:)

Kristi already answered you, but I would like to expand...on the Magic and the Wonder there are 2 dining and 2 show times. The Dream is set up differently. There are THREE show times (5,7,9), and two dining times but within the dining times the tables are staggered by about 5 minutes. We had 6pm dining, but tables in other sections seemed to have 5:45 or 6:15. There were never lines to enter the restaurants. On the Dream the waitstaff have a much longer walk to the galley - so service seemed to take a bit longer.

Kristi - having your kids on late dining might work, but you may have to consider a later lunch or even 2 smaller meals during the afternoon...I personally have found the late dining service to be a bit slower than early. The shows occossionally run a little late as well in my experience. I haven't done late dining in a couple of years, I personally prefer early - because I hate eating that close to bedtime - even if i decide to "hit the clubs" as it were...my tummy just never seemed to be happy with eating at 9pm. Which I find really odd - I work nights...lunch time is about 3am :rotfl:

Has anyone gotten the refund for the reduced fees yet? Do I need to call to get it? My credit card has not gotten a refund so I was wondering if it was just taking them awhile to process them all.

I called yesterday to get help changing excursions and asked. The lady looked up account and said it was pendin $50.32 refund. She told me they are doing them in batches so I should see it soon. I was presented the option to have it go as on board credit in lieu of credit back to credit card so that is something to consider.

After all the problems I've been reading about, I looked into excursions for Manzanillo. There are a whopping 2 options that my whole family can do together. Yippee! :confused3 Are there any independent excursion companies in Manzanillo? Or any resorts we can book for the day ourselves? :headache:

I know!! Crazy, right?!? I was telling my friend that it's a good thing this isn't our first DCL cruise and we're not paying much because right now I'm not impressed. Why bother to go to a port where you force your passengers to seek out their own excursions?! Believe me I'm not complaining I'm just surprised because this is not typical of Disney. I have to think it has to do with the Easter week...I know it's a big deal in MX.

I agree - this is our 5th Disney cruise and I've never seen such a lack of excursion availability. I don't understand :confused3 We've never even booked excursions in advance and have always gotten what we wanted after boarding. On this trip we can't even book what we want in advance.

It's very frustrating!

We are looking for something on our own in Manzanillo and in Cabo.

Have a good weekend everyone!

The Secret Mickey sounds fun. I like the idea of 1 or 2 gifts. I'd be up for a $20 cap.

Thanks so much for this Gabriela:cool1: We are also doing Palo's on night 7. I don't need to taste California, I taste it every day:lmao:

Virdis and Gabriela, do you guys have a preference of what dining rotation we do? I can get my mom (my TA) to request it for us. I was originally hoping to have the Animators show on the first night, but that does not look like the case.

If anyone is interested, we are still planning on doing Tesoro Resort on our own in Manzanillo. I have read about a $12 taxi ride per direction and the resort quoted me $41 per adult and $21 for children for their AI day pass--includes food and drinks and activities. Usually the kid prices are for ages 3-12. I am "friends" with them on FB and just love seeing their daily pictures of the resort, it look beautiful.

I have to talk to Kaylee but we're definitely interested!!! I had booked it through DCL. It sounds just lovely!!!

Yeah I like the secret Mickey idea. It would be nice to exchange 1 to 2 gifts with just the adults in the family. As much as I love all things Disney it would be great to get something more for adults.

Thanks Gabriela for the info. Virdis and I would prefer 1) APT 2) TAP and 3) PAT. We have Palo dinner reservations on Day 9. We will miss you guys when you are at Palo's but we will hold down the fort. We will also miss you guys for dinner on night 4.

Kristi... I will catch up with you this weekend. Hope the rain lets up soon. Also we are knee deep in GS cookie sales. How about you??

The first day in Cabo has never been available for me when I choose Cabo excursions and the one that I did choose on the second day was canceled. We are limited in what we can do since dd is only 3. I wrote my agent at Dreams Unlimited and this is the email I received today:

"DCL did some checking and due to port changes to your itinerary, they do not have all of the excursions and dates updated into their system as of yet. That is why you either can't find excursions for a certain date or you are receiving the error message (s) that you are

They are advising that you can just keep checking, but they did not have a time frame on when everything will be loaded to be booked.

I hope this helps and that you are having a great day!"

We are planning on just taking a taxi over when we get there. They seem to be very friendly and welcoming. It looks nice for both a beach & pool day. Everything I have read on cruise critic is that the resorts in Manzanillo LOVE the cruise passengers. I don't know how the crowds Easter week are going to affect the resorts, guess we will find out.

Great, we will request the APT rotation. I like it. Then we get Animators 4 times. I think that is the most fun for kids.

Yes, I will definitely call you guys today after church in the afternoon. Really hope the weather holds so we can drive your way tomorrow and meet up. We are also knee deep in Girl Scout cookies around here. I am planning on buying a bunch of boxes to give to the kids club staff as a thank you. I bet they don't get these cookies very often.

8 weeks from today:cool1::cool1: Hope we get all the rain out of the way now and it is a beautiful April.
