Dieting in the midst of decadent Disney cuisine is difficult, to say the least! What healthy suggestions do you have for (1) snacks you bring into the parks, (2) groceries for the room, and of course (3) dining at Disney restaurants?

I'm going to try to maintain - and NOT gain while we're there in December. I'm not even considering losing! I'm going to be happy to have a full kitchen to help take off the pressure of eating out every single meal!

1) Snacks to take to the parks - 100-calorie packs - the Oreos and the Chips Ahoy are a great sweet snack and are good when others are eating ice cream and popcorn!

2) Groceries for the room - Fruit, Skinny cows (again - I need the ice cream!), DiGiorno's thin crust pizza (for the occasional dinner),

3) Disney restaurants - It gets hard here! Buffets are actually a little easier because they have decent salads, fruit, nice sauteed veggies, some have carved turkeys, and small desserts to choose. Plus, if you want to indulge, you can select your OWN portion size instead of someone heaping it all onto your plate for you! I plan on carrying a few packs of FF Italian dressing (like the ones you can get at Subway) for salads so I'm prepared. Dressings can be my downfall!

I do plan on NOT worrying about it for a meal here or there - going to Ohana's and to Yachtsman Steakhouse!, but at least this time I'm not going to think that food is the secret to the fun!

Good luck!

Just keep exercising and watch what you eat. Even an entire bag of cotton candy is only about 120 calories. Eat appetizers instead of entrees. Or share an entree. Do not deny yourself those Disney treats you love, just get one or share them.

I agree with Deb, don't deny yourself, just watch your portions.

I usually gain 3 or 4 pounds at WDW but if I watch after I come home, they usually come off pretty quick. All that walking has to count for something.

I am currently on Weight Watchers and managed to lose one pound on our last trip to the world.
We had breakfast in our room each morning...some yogurt, 1 point bread with margarine and a piece of fruit. It held me for most of the morning into the afternoon.
Lunches in the parks wasn't difficult. I noticed many counter service places had options of carrots in place of fries. If we did a sit down restaurant for lunch I opted for a salad - which was always yummy and I felt good not leaving the restauant over-stuffed and uncomfortable.
Dinners, went the same. I often orded an appetizer and salad as my main course. I did splurge at the HDDR and a few stops at the Boardwalk Bakery! I also took those 100 calorie packs and they were good. However some days that Boardwalk Bakery was yelling my name!! LOL! Just be sure to drink your water.
My thought was, since we are DVC owners I know that we will be back anc I can splurge somewhere the next time(s). Not to mention, losing the excess weight will make me healthier and enable me to enjoy my DVC membership until it expires!

PS - I also wore a pedometer in the parks. I was amazed that I reached 10,000 steps early in the day EVERY day we were there.

1) Snacks: Beaver tails at Canada

2) Groceries: Guiness, only 125 calories

3) Dining: Skip it! Go straight for the "Kitchen Sink" at Beaches & Cream
