Dieting for Disney

I went back on WW on Sunday.I don't know how much I have lost but I feel better already. That has to count for something.I am also taking my own FF hotdogs to a cookout. Now if I can just stay away from the potato salad. :confused3 I am going to start concentrating on exercise next week. One thing at a time.

Well, I decided that I may try WW. I never have in the past, but I think I need something to follow. Its been 3.5 weeks for me...in the first 1.5 wks, lost 4 lbs, then gained one back, so now overall down 3. I'm exercising at least 45 min/day, and doing good on sweets, so I think maybe I'm not eating enough? I don't know, I'll give WW a try. Does anyone do the online one that could give me some pointers? Thanks! I'm gonna join Mon/Tues..AFTER the holiday weekend.

My sister does the online version but I like the interaction of the meetings. :confused3 I think it depends on the person.Good luck!!

So far I've lost 7 lbs. :cool1: Only 13 more to go!
I went shopping for summer clothes today - the stores are already having summer clearance sales. Right now I wear a size 10, but I bought two pairs of shorts in a size 8 - I'm determined to be able to wear them to Disney the last week of September!

So, hows everyone doing? RIDisneyFan, you sound just like me! I've lost 7....12 to go. I went to do the same as you and buy smaller summer clothes for our trip, and I was only able to find 1 pair of shorts! It seems so early to have all fall clothes out already! Hopefully I can find some more, or I won't have much variety on my trip. BTW, I've been doing my modified diet/exercise for 5 weeks now, so I'm hoping I can stay at the same rate and have lost what I need to by Sept. Good luck everyone!

Just saw this thread. My dream was to go to Disney and we went in May 2001. When we got back and I saw the pic's I was shocked with how "big" I have gotten over the years. On that day promised myself I would lose 90 pounds!! Since then I have had 2 beautiful dd's and lost 68 pounds. We are taking our dd's on September 24 and I am hoping to have my 22 pounds gone or at least be very close! I am so excited and the trip to disney is giving that extra push I need.

I just now found this thread....

I've always had weight issues; it runs in the family. I've gained quite a bit of weight since I had my 2 girls. I can never stick to a diet. I don't like starving or weighing food or measuring etc..I don't like it to be complicated.

I also just didn't have motivation. Well, the end of May I decided to do something about it with the incentive of a trip to Six Flags the end of August, a wedding September 10, and WDW trip Nov 25.

Another incentive was that my sister lost 100lbs on her diet since last Summer. Low carb lifestyle.

So that is what I'm doing. It was SO tough the first week giving up sweets, pasta and bread but it got easier after that. I do love meat so that helps.

I've been doing it for 8 weeks and I've lost 18lbs!!

The toughest part is breakfast. I get sick of bacon and eggs quickly but I've switched to low carb yoghart. I snack on peanuts, low carb ice cream, starbucks has a low carb cheesecake.

I have splurged. I had a piece of my DDs birthday cookie, a piece of her birthday cheesecake (on different days) and I ate a couple of non-low carb items at a bridal shower. I don't want to deprive myself when I'm at a celebration!

I will enjoy my Disney trip. I will eat whatever I want but I'll try to be good. I hope to continue this till I reach my goal and then start to introduce more 'good' carbs.

Good luck everyone!

Hey folks! I have been trying to lose and WDW is also my motivation! My question is- how much do you walk? I have been taking DS(almost 3) on a walk of about 1.3 miles each day- is that enough for him? I know I need to go longer, but what about him? What should I try to build him up to? We only have 7 weeks left. He gets tired after about a block, so I know I need to do more. He's really active, though, so I'm thinking he's just getting bored more than tired. How much do you have your kids walk to get ready for the World? Thanks

WOW!!! I can't get DD 6 to go more than a mile. I don't try to get her in shape for WDW, though--we rent a stroller for her. This makes our visit more enjoyable!!!

That makes me feel better, kenziesmom! We do plan on renting a stoller, jsut aren't sure how much he'll stay in it!

I too am attempting to lose weight before we go to Disney. It was not the deciding factor, but it helps. I just started 3 weeks ago and I have lost 21 lbs. My short term goal is 60 lbs by the time we go Disney in September.
I am counting calories 1300 per day, and my wife (who is also participating) and our son walk 1-2 miles per day. He rides his bike though.

We thought about WW, but decided if we do it together and hold each other accountable we should be fine.

So far so good!!

keep up the good work! I've been doing the same as you..watch what I eat, extra exercise, limit sweets, and I've lost 8 pounds in 6 weeks...I have 11 more to go before our trip. Good luck!

and I'm finally ready to jump onto the weight loss wagon with you all. I had great success with Atkins 1 1/2 years ago and loss 50 lbs. I did very well and maintained until about a month ago. I have put on 7 lbs and none of my clothes are comfortable anymore. As of today both DH and myself are back on the diet wagon, although this time we are going to add exercise. Following atkins was not difficult for us as we did it together, but finding time and energy to exercise is another story, but with my dh's help and holding myself accountable to him and to all of you I'm sure that I can succeed again. I would like to lose about 30 lbs to get to my pre pregnancy weight. Thanks for your support.

Deb
