both dd's are in middle school now, older dd in 8th grade and younger dd in 6th grade.
the school has been going through a major construction/renovation project since just before older dd was in 6th grade. but it had minimal impact on the way the school functioned.
until now.
6th grade orientation was tuesday, and the first day of classes was yesterday. both girls came home complaining about the mess at school.
older dd had a dental appointment today, and I picked her up at school, so I got to see what was going on first-hand.
when I got to the school, there was an ambulance parked out front. one of the construction workers had had an accident, and the ambulance crew had to whell his stretcher through the halls to evacuate him from the building -- and one of the teachers walked ahead, making sure classroom doors were closed so that the students didn't see what was going on.
the new lockers have been installed, sort of. they're not bolted to the walls yet, so the kids can't use them. they have to carry their backpacks all day. a major hallway is completely blocked off, as work is being done there. and there are construction workers in other hallways, with equipment and ladders and such -- I almost tripped over one of the ladders on my way to the office to get my dd.
ugh!
