Didn’t get section we requested

For someplace as big as WDW and for what they charge for the rooms, I don't think that it is at all unreasonable for them to replace/clean the carpets on a more regular basis. There is no excuse for a hotel that is doing well to let the rooms get shabby.

I'm guessing this is in part why they are going through the resorts ripping out the carpet.

Requests are request
Everyone going to Disney has a room request
They can’t get everyone the exact room they want or building etc
It’s always disheartening to see posts like this where people expect perfection at Disney
No place or nobody is perfect!

I think OP was wrong and petty emailing the manager and getting so worked up over the room location. I’d be enjoying my time at Disney with my family- a family in my town had to take their first grader off life support after donating her organs and saving others. This as result of tragic accident.

What in the world does that have anything to do with this thread? Why would you post something like that? Your info. is NOT unique. Tragedies happen everywhere all over the world. This is not a thread posting about tragedies...trust me I'm sure everyone on here could post their most recent local tragedy, but that has nothing to do with a room request.

The way the OP has been treated/talked to about asking about a room request really does say a lot as to the type of ppl. we have become. Ugh...the OP asked an innocent question that should have very easily been able to answer without all the nastiness. So ridiculous.

To show there are more important things in life than a room location at Disney. That is why .

If you post anything on a message board you need to understand not everyone will agree with you. And the Dis is probably the most tame of the Disney boards.
Of course you now have something to say about MY post. The OP asked for opinions about how to request a room change than she was criticized for what she did. That’s not an opinion. But don’t worry, you were an integral part in teaching her not to ask for opinions. Well done.

Can't stand this type of argument. Just because something else worse than what you are dealing with may be happening, it doesn't mean you can't be upset about what's happening to you.

I just had major dental surgery, cost a ton, postponed trips and I have a stupid partial in my mouth that I literally can't chew anything with while I wait for implants. Someone proceeds to tell me (and I wasn't complaining, I swear, they asked about it) about their friend's daughter who is paralyzed and said I should be happy and it could be worse. Get away from me lady, I'm in pain!!! :rotfl:

Wow. If I have any other questions, I’ll ask somewhere else. Thanks! Good bye.
I don’t blame you! These boards are a disaster now, you can’t ask a simple question with out being attacked. I joined this group 18 years ago and it was people helping people. Now it’s just people bashing people. I rarely visit these pages and this is why. A simple question turns into you’re throwing a temper tantrum because you didn’t get what you want, you’re making a scene.....people putting words in you’re mouth, saying you were upset when they have no idea if you were.... it’s just ridiculous here!

This is why we can't have nice things. Someone expects something and doesn't get it and then complains. This is why towel animals went away. If everyone is making the same request you not everyone can have it. That's why it's a request. So someone else who made the request may not get the room.

Not the way I am reading her post at all. To me it sounds like she is upset she didn't get the room location she requested, and instead of understanding and accepting what a request is, kept at them until she got what she wanted.

She asked at the front desk and expressed disappointment in an email.

The adult equivalent of mommy mommy mommy mommy. Push until they placate you.

Wow. :sad2:

The manager responded and did the right thing. Clearly he read the email as a request not a complaint, or why would he offered to move the OP the following day if possible. My goodness how often have we heard the question, have your wishes been fulfilled? There’s a lot to say for customer goodwill especially for a guest like OP who has returned to the resort after 10 previous visits. And especially at the price you pay in room and parking fees. Thanks.

Let's see this thread for what it really is... OP is pissed they didn't get a renovated room.
If they wanted a guaranteed refurbed room they should have stayed at POP.
Not meeting their request was no one's fault but their own for having too high of an expectation of getting a fresh room.
Carpets being worn should not be a reason to email Disney after you already spoke directly with a CM about your disappointment.
Acting like you should pay less than the party sleeping in the next also incomplete reno room is being a baby.
Flame me if you like. Report me for my opinion if you like but if you look at it with fresh eyes you will see my point.

We had 4 rooms, asked for 2 of the rooms to be connected (a specific 2, yes all info. on 5he request that was faxed and given over the phone was correct) and to be on ground floor of possible. We got there and those 2 rooms weren't connected and we were on 3rd floor. At first we thought that it just wasn't available (odd as we've always gotten connected rooms when asked though), we start to leave the checkin desk and I pull up a map of the resort rooms on my phone and find out that in our group of 4, 2 of our rooms are connecting just not the ones we asked for. We all got there at the same time etc., we went back to switch the rooms around and my mom (has some mobility issues and cant do stairs) mentioned that she was also hoping for ground floor. The CM who was helping us was great said he'd look and very quickly found 4 rooms together (2 connecting) on the ground floor and moved us there. He told us that it really just depends on the room assigner and that some are better than others at looking for room requests, so I will always from now on ask at checkin if it's something I want instead of just assuming they must not have had it available as there's no way that neither of our last requests weren't available, especially the connecting rooms one, it was, it was clear which rooms we wanted connected, they just didnt care or look etc.

ETA: Yes, the rooms were in the same preferred category and even in the same building.

The more requests you put on a reservation, the harder it is to make those requests happen. Especially when they are as complicated as this scenario. Perhaps the specific two that you were requesting to be connecting should have been one set and the other two another set to prevent the confusion.

But in the future, with multiple requests, the best thing you can do is put them in a priority order so the assigner knows what is most important and will start with looking at that.

Example:
1st Priority - Conf # X and Conf # Y request connecting.
2nd Priority - Conf # A and Conf #B near Conf X and Conf Y
3rd Priority - Toy Story
etc., etc.

If I was an assigner and got something as convoluted as what is quoted above, I'd probably just put the rooms in available ones also - especially if I also had a fax or email spelling out the requests explicitly in the example I gave.

But again, realize that the more requests you make, the harder it is to make ALL those requests happen.

Disappointed was the word she used.

I think the OP means that all the non-renovated rooms should be discounted for everyone.
No need to name call. :confused3

I hope a lot of you never serve on a jury the way you jump to conclusions, put words in people's mouths, draw someone's whole demeanor, personality, and thought process based on a simple question from someone you don't know, never saw, and didn't observe the encounter. Some of you need to get a hobby.....or something...and I'll leave it at that.

::yes:: If visitors keep reacting this way, at some point WDW is going to completely eliminate the ability to request. Even at Port Orleans.

Why is it unrealistic to request particular sections if available? Disney Resorts are the only hotels I have ever stayed in that I cannot call and reserve in advance a certain section if available at time of booking. Hilton, Crowne, Holiday Inn etc. never an issue to book a certain building. Its not just a request. If they show its open its mine when I book.

The resort numbers go to a call center. The CM will
Do these phone numbers not go directly to the resorts front desk? When calling any of them, they do answer with the specific resorts name so it seems different than calling the Disney's main line.

answer with the name of the resort but they are not physically there and may know very little about the actual resort.
