Apparently my mother almost married into a quite lucrative family business. When mad at us kids she’d lament she should’ve raised worms. Guess she had regrets not marrying the worm farmer.

Definitely not. Dad was poor and went to college on the GI Bill after WW II.

She didn’t marry into money but my dad worked his way up in the ranks in the military and gave her a more comfortable life then what she had

At the time she married my dad, no.
My dad's parents died when he was 11 and he and his sister were left a trust fund that apparently was pretty big. The Judge who oversaw the Probate made himself the administrator of the trust and took my dad and aunt in. He sent them to private schools, and fed and clothed them, and bought them new cars when they turned 18. My dad was just happy someone took care of them. My Aunt sued. My dad refused to be a part of the suit. My Aunt got a $30,000 settlement in 1935. That would be about $650,000 today. So if my dad had been a part of that suit, it could have been moneyed when he married my mom.

No. She married my Dad, who had a spotty work history to say the least.

Both my parents were very poor. My father slept on the floor his entire childhood.

My dad went to boarding school, and had degrees from two Ivy’s, my mom grew up poor in a city, shared a double bed with her sister until getting married at 22. My dad worshipped her.

Nope. Neither of my parents married into money. However, they were very successful at creating their own wealth, working hard, saving, investing. They set themselves up for a very comfortable retirement and instilled the same values in their kids. I admire them for that.

Nope. My Dad said he had $5 to his name when they got married In 1935. But, he had a steady job where he worked for 45 years. We had a very modest 1,000 square foot brick ranch that we moved into in 1954. My late sister and I sold that home in 2017.
