Did your DH 'wear' your baby?

My husband "wore" both our girls as babies. He used the baby Bjorn when they were small, and later a backpack type carrier. This is a personal choice, but I loved it when my husband did this, he felt it was more important to be close to the baby than worry about what others thought. It also gave me a break!

I have a variety of slings and carriers. DH will only use the Sutemi, and he only wears them on his back. I'm sure he'd wear a Bjorn, but we don't have one of those.

Yep, we have a Baby Bjorn, and Kevin "wore" Alyssa on many walks and on her first trip to WDW too. :goodvibes

Wow, I have to say I'm a little envious of these hubbies who wear their babies! My h didn't have much at all to do with either of my babies, until they were way after 6 months old! What a shame. . .

And I agree that men wearing babies are chick-magnets! I dunno what it is, but it works! LOL

DH is a SAHD and a paraplegic. He used a sling for both of our boys and it worked wonderfully. He could take the baby, push his wheelchair and a grocery cart.

That's pretty cool! Like I said earlier, DH wore Paul is his sling, too. Paul LOVED his sling and he pretty much lived in it the first year of his life. I loved having him snuggled up right next to me and I could just go on about my business while he slept or enjoyed the ride! I'm a huge fan of slings! We like our Bjorn, too, but we didn't use it as much because Paul was so short that he couldn't see over the top until he was older!

DH "wore" our oldest DD in one of them twice before it broke and she ended up in the hospital with with a broken left femur, both legs in traction for a week and in a spica body cast for 3 weeks at just 7 weeks old. I don't remember the brand but the strap came out of the buckle even after I fastened it and made sure it was secure. It turned out that the product was deemed faulty and recalled shortly afterward but no other baby in our family, extended or just friends, have ever even entertained the thought of "wearing" their baby since.

Now, that's talent.

My hubby wore the kids. That Snugli was a godsend at Disney. We also had a LLBean backpack thingy that was nice for treks around the neighborhood, until it was recalled and we sent it back.

DH used to use our snugli-type and wear DD3 on the swing set...I even have a photo somewhere. He also backpacked her when we went on family walks. He tried the sling a time or two, but was NOT comfortable with it at all, so DD4 was my wearing kid (nothing but the sling for her)

Dads who are worried about their "reputation" should have their toenails painted as they sleep. :) My husband wouldn't give up our son. He 'wore' him while he cleaned the house!!!! Good luck.

We never owned any of these items which is kind of a shame in restrospect. I always just carried DS which was sometimes murder on my back. DH carried DS quite a bit too but I can't see him wearing a sling or anything else like that.

Nope, we made a rule before we ever had kids that we would never leash them or wear them.

Not bashing, but why would you have a rule against baby-wearing?

It is a fabulous thing. DH and I always preferred wearing a baby in a mall/grocery store instead of a stroller. It felt so good to have them against us.

Nope my dh wouldn't wear the girls ever. He thinks it is not manly. Besides with breastfeeding there really wasn't much time he could actually wear them when they were not lactched on. :rotfl: I just love my slings and I would have never had a second baby without one.

Yes, and proudly! Since we tried so long to have another baby, we'd be more often seen fighting over who GETS to wear baby!

Oh, it's so nice, and to reach down and feel the little fuzzy baby head, and the smooth little cheeks and feel the breath. And to hold onto the tiny baby feet as you walk. I always held their feet. Okay, my baby fever is coming on, I have to switch threads fast!

My dh loved to 'wear' our dd in a sling we had. He did it every week when he went to pay bills. It got him a lot of attention too. He said he didn't notice ;) I just appreciated him carrying her so that we didn't have to use the stroller until she was older.

My husband wore Madison a few times, but he was always afraid the Bjorn would break or that he was crushing her and therefore felt uncomfortable and nervous everytime he wore her so usually I did it. Madison was a baby who needed to be held from the minute she woke up till the minute she went to bed at night so that Bjorn was very handy for the 1st 3-4 months!

Nope I never wore my kids but then neither did my wife we just pushed them around in the strollers.

We have DD now 10 and DS now 5...DH wore them both, at home and out, first in a sling, and when they were older, in a backpack. I miss those days! :goodvibes
