Did you watch the debate?

I watched and actually found it to be pretty good. The answers seemed alot less "rehearsed", even though I'm sure some of them were anyway. Both candidates seemed a little more loose.

In the end, I still think it's George Bush for me, as I'm afraid John Kerry is wearing rose colored glasses when he pictures himself in the White House. It just can't be as easy as he makes it out to be.

I agree! I'd like to be able to profess objectivity, but I'm not sure I can. Bush was just great in this debate. He was human, happy, comfortable, and sounded very intelligent--much to the probable chagrin of the Democrats!

Kerry seemed stiff and unremarkable. The empathy he attempted to show towards the woman who asked about the federal funds for abortion and a couple of others--right now I don't remember--seemed to be an affectation.

When he loses in November, I am not sure he'll be getting a talk show hosting offer.

I listened to it.

Oh, and not that it matters, but I loved Laura Bush's outfit.;)

Yep, watched it and I picked up on GW's nervous eye twitch. That tells me how stressed out he is for whatever reason.
Perhaps it's time for someone else to do the job for a while....surely this isn't good for GW"s health, right? :p

Yeah, looks like I'm still goin' for Kerry. LOL

It was interesting to watch this debate, MORE like a debate than the others we've seen.

I watched it with DH, only yelled at the TV a few times. I had already decided who I was voting for so that was never a question, but this made me so much more confident in my choice.

I watched and had Bush not lost his temper a couple of times when he was seriously challenged, I would've called it a tie.

If he can't keep his cool in a debate, no wonder he goes off half cocked on other matters.

At any rate, I don't expect to see a big change in the polls like there was in the last debate. In this case, no change is a win for Kerry.

Definitely a win for Kerry.
Altough Bush did better this time, just not good enough.

Bush handled himself better this time around but not enough to score a win. Kerry probably isn't thrilled about tonight either. I think its a tie.

Nah, Bush didn't lose his temper, though he seemed a bit incredulous a few times.

Kerry came off like an amateur, a wannabe. Bush came off Presidential and knowledgeable.

Yes, he did.

We could bat this back and forth a few more times if you'd like.

I don't know if I'd say he lost his temper, but he did get a bit too anxious to answer at one point - I'll give you that. He should have let it go.

By incredulous do you mean whiney? Because I had to turn the sound down a couple of times when the pitch of GW"s voice became uncomfortably high.

(and no, I'm not joking. My husband wears a hearing aid and President Bush's voice would, at times, become unbearable to listen to.)

I always watch the debates, even though I know who I am voting for.
I feel that it is an obligation as a US citizen to understand the issues.
Too many people I speak with vote for the other candiate just because they don't like the current President. That scares me! :earseek:
If you are going to excerise your right to vote, you should know who and what you are voting for!

I think tonight was basically a tie...maybe a little bit poorer performance for Kerry than last time and a lot better performance for Bush but I think Bush also did something he shouldn't do when he overrode Charlie-the-Moderator.

Both candidates bothered me in that they did some serious tap dancing...they'd have given Gregory Hines a run for his money. The instances that stood at the most for me was President Bush on his answer regarding Canadian drugs and Senator Kerry on partial birth abortion. Bush's response just wasn't good enough and Kerry never said the word abortion (I do have to admire the dexterity with which he avoided saying it).

As with Cheney/Edwards if I had to give an edge to someone I'd give it to Kerry. Two thumbs down to the audience...too many questions on Iraq!!! And I wish SOMEBODY had asked how each man would ratchet up innovation (not research) in this country along with the quality of skills the american worker has to offer ...that's the best way to bring an end to outsourcing.

Oh, are you referring to when he insisted on answering when Gibson didn't want him to? Okay. I didn't think he lost his temper--I thought he deemed this an important point he needed to clarify. I thought that was a good thing.

I really do think this was a CLEAR win for Bush. He was at ease and friendly. I didn't see Kerry as friendly--he seemed out of his element.

I think Kerry started out strong, but GW came back towards fairly well. It was pretty close as far as a win, could be a tie or maybe a slight lean for Bush.

I agree. I also think even if you are decided you should give the other guy a chance to tell you himself or his (or her) stances. Of course I'm voting for Kerry because he doesn't bother me that much and he isn't Bush. I'm concerned about some of his stances but not nearly as much as I am about this administration as a whole.

PS. I wonder who Bush was talking about when he said he'd made mistakes in appointments. Any guesses?

I whole heartedly agree, President Bush won. Last debate he also won on substance, maybe not style, but I don't vote on style, I vote on substance. This debate, however, he won on both.

Do you really think so? Remember winning means drawing undecided or barely decided voters over to your side. I'm not sure either guy was very successful in that.

Edit: Gosh I'm sorry about the typos...I'm a bit tired.
