Did you watch "Saving Private Ryan"?

I watched. I always watch it when I can. It's one of the most gripping, moving films ever. I was very impressed that they ran it completely unedited and with very few commercials.

Did you watch? If it was your first time seeing it, what did you think?

Seen it before. WFAA in Dallas didn't show it.

Its pretty good.

I'd watch Pearl Harbor over it though :D

I watched it.

I think it's a good movie that I'll have to watch again. I know in my shock I missed a few points and sometimes I had to walk away from it.

It made me angry at a lot of things.

I saw it in the theater with Vince when it came out. Bought the DVD but have never watched it, so gripping and tough to watch the grim realities, though needed at times, of war. I did watch about the second half last night, busy earlier. I found myself many times physically tensed (I could feel myself relaxing my muscles after many scenes that had tensed during them), had tears at the end. War is brutal and sad. A riveting portrayal.

No, WKEF didn't show it. They ran "Born on the Fourth of July" instead.

I actually didn't really like the movie when I saw it in the theaters. I know I know- I've all ready been told I'm a bad American for it. I'm just not one for WW2 movies.

I followed the gospel according to tvguideous and watched Survivor.

It's a very interesting movie to me, because my late grandfather was one of those soldiers that stormed the beach on D-Day. He rarely spoke about his experiences, especially to the females in the family. I think he thought we were too frail to handle it.

But through my male cousin, I've learned alot about what he went through. Absolutely horrific. He was extremely fortunate to come home after that.

I was so glad our affiliate in Philadelphia aired it. I had seen it a few years ago, and remember feeling really "aware" of the what our poor soldiers endured during the wars. Prior to seeing this movie, I had no idea how horrible it was.

Same here. I saw it in the movies and was moved, but I just don't get into war movies. Too much fighting and it seems redundant to me.

Although I did love Gladiator. Now that was good times. Or maybe it's just Russell Crowe that was good times.

mmmmmm...

Yes I watched it, thought is was very good. Also happy that they showed it unedited.

I watched part of it here In Salt Lake, but it was edited heavily here for language...did that happen elsewhere...The part I saw was when FUBAR is finally explained near the end and if I had not seen it before or didn't already know the meaning I would not have gotten it due to the editing of the scene.

Interesting. I had heard that Steven Spielberg will allow it to be shown on TV ONLY with the stipulation that it was to be un-edited.

It was definitely unedited here. I did not watch it, because my son was in the room, but when I flipped through the channel I heard the F word being yelled. Quite shocking to hear that coming from ABC (but I was glad they showed it and did not edit it here).
