Did you use SDFP on a very busy day?

Please tell me what worked and what you would do differently? How was kiosk access?

We are traveling at the end of March 2017 and it will be crowded. I want to take advantage of rope drop and not go to the kiosks for SDFP until we've hit 3 or 4 attractions. Will there be anything decent left? Chances of tier 1 at EP or HS?

Thanks!

I used it. My friends family used it. A coworker used it. And I just sent some MB to my buddy in Indy for his up coming trip. Works great especially in MK. With so many options in MK you can get some solid selections. Epcot was almost useless. Could not get any of the big three but we got Figment (save 10 minutes). HS would have been ok. TT AND RR were available but my little ones were too young. My buddy got RR. AK was good too. Got Dino and Primevil whirl. My friends got space mountain, splash mountain in 12/25 a very busy day.

We usually have one person be the sacrificial SDFP retriever, who misses the first few rides. I've been enough times that I can skip Peter Pan, so I usually do it. The earlier you get to the kiosks, the more availability obviously.

Yes you can use your phone.

Sorry because this is obviously a stupid question, but what does that acronym stand for? I couldn't find it on the abbreviation cheat sheet. I'm assuming SDFP means you can schedule additional fast passes after you use your first 3? Is there a max to how many you can get (use first 3, then you can ONLY get one more)?

Question, and sorry to hijack, OP: Can I use plastic tickets from 2015 for SDFP? We are off-site for our trip this year, and I bought magic bands for our trip, but I kept our old tickets (well I found 3 of the 4).

Same day fast pass. You used to have to go to the kiosks to book more fast passes once you used up your original 3, but now you can book more from the MDE app on your phone (thus not having to take time out to go to a kiosk and wait in line)

When did this change go into effect?

Unless something has changed recently then no, you can't book SDFP from website or app. They must be booked at a kiosk and only for the park you are physically standing in.
You can definitely use the app, was just there last month and I never used a kiosk and you didn't have to choose the park you were in after the initial 3. I think this was a change last (2016) summer

I remember hearing about it middle/late last year? Not sure when. But on the website it does say you can make more fp on your mobile device

I never used a kiosk to make extra FP when I was there in July. I only used the app. It's been going on a while.

I planned a trip for my uncle during Thanksgiving week and I made them SDFP for them from my home on the app. He is not tech savvy.

Just want to make sure we are talking about the same thing. When you say "SDFP" (Same Day Fast Pass) you are talking about making Fastpass selections using a second set of Magic Bands, not the original bands that Disney sent you that have your park tickets, hotel reservations linked, etc. Because that is what I was referring to. If we are in fact talking about the same thing, then no, you can't book or modify SDFPs using app or website. Just returned from a trip last month and used second set of Magic Bands every day to successfully book SDFP. But had to use kiosks. If trying to modify your SDFP selections on app it will seem like you will have success until you get an error message before completing the very last step. To use app or website, bands must have valid ticket media linked to them which is why SDFP only works from kiosks now.

If you are talking about making/modifying FP selections using Magic bands that have your park tickets linked to them, then yes, you can book/modify/cancel/book additional FPs from app.

Sorry for any confusion my post may have caused. I assumed the first 4 posts of this thread were referring to SDFP as the acronym applies here on the Dis.

I am beginning to realize we are talking about two different things. Sorry for any confusion. Here's a thread about what I was referring to:
