Did you use a TA to book your wedding?

Hello everybody.

I was wondering if any of you used a travel agent to book your wedding or anything else for your trip or if you just dealt with Disney directly.

I was just planning to book everything myself but my mom works for a travel agent and none of them have ever worked on a Disney wedding before and I think they are a little excited to do it though I'm kind of wondering if having a middle man for all that would be more trouble than beneficial.

Any advice?

I just booked our rooms through a TA which I had never done before but there was a big sale promotion going on at the time, and I was so busy planning the wedding, I figured it was one less thing I had to worry about. In regards to having the TA "work on the wedding" I'm wondering exactly what you mean as the TA wouldn't have any involvement in the actual wedding planning, they would just be booking rooms, meal plans and tickets for you and/or your guests.
All event/ceremony/reception planning is done through DFTW....:thumbsup2

I'm an authorized Disney TA, but even though I could help with advice or info (as I would here on the DISboards), I wouldn't be able to book any wedding events or help book photographer etc. If I had a client planning a wedding, I would help with research and would help if they wanted me to, but DFTW will only talk to the couple as far as planning details are concerned.

I hope this post wasn't confusing to read now that I'm re-reading it! LOL

No, I understood it. I was actually wondering if they would do all that. For example, if a TA booked the wedding if the TA would then be the main contact person for the event or not. That's why I thought it could be more trouble to use a TA for that than it would be worth if DFTW is always calling the TA about things like available venues and whatnot rather than just calling me.

The TA does not/cannot book the wedding. So, no. DFTW will only book a wedding with a bride and/or groom to be.
The only exception I know of, is for the UK where there is a company some UK brides use, but I have heard it is too much hassle to go through them and I think most UK brides are now just booking the wedding themselves directly with Disney.

You can use a TA to book your or your guests' rooms, tickets and/or meal plans.

Ok, great. Thank you.
