Did you receive your Tax Refund yet?

Really frustrated with the IRS right now. They still haven’t processed our 2019 taxes! They sure cashed our check right away though (we always owe). It’s never even occurred to me to check if the IRS processed our return. Every year they cash our check so I figure all is well. This year we never got the stimulus in January and then our daughters financial aid for next year for college has no loans offered only her scholarships even though I filled out the FAFSA on Oct 1st. They didn’t let me use the IRS retrieval tool but I just figured it was a glitch. Now that the new stimulus is coming out we won’t get that one either all because for some unknown reason they’ve never gotten around to processing our 2019 paper return. We did wait to file until July 15th since we owed but come on, that was 8 months ago!! And they cashed our check the next week!

I filed late January but it wasn't accepted until Feb 12 when the IRS opened up for filing. Got my refund about a week later. But my taxes are pretty straight forward.

No and no sense waiting for it either.
Would come in handy about now but you can’t have it both ways.

Yep. I double checked to see that we received it on Feb.21st. We try to keep our refund low, so that we're not giving the government more of our money during the year than we need to be, but without actually owing anything, either. :) So, since that results in us still getting a small refund, DH always has our taxes done as soon as humanly possible. :)

Filed Feb 12th, accepted by IRS. Used Turbo Tax, still no refund. Call Turbo yesterday and they said that it's taking the IRS much longer this year than normal. No official letters yet saying there are issues though.

I’ve done them but haven’t submitted yet. For the first time ever, we owe, so I’ll wait as long as possible to file them. We owe because all the government emergency funds my husband got weren’t taxed so that they could be sent out as quickly as possible. Considering what we got, we don’t owe that much, but it was still a jolt (even though I had suspected we would owe this year.

I just signed on Wednesday but the tax guy told me it was taking longer to get returns this year.

Paperwork is together, getting dropped off at the CPA today. I have no idea how long it will take this year. I paper file (my CPA requires clients to opt out of electronic filing). Last year from mailing to refund in my account was 3 weeks to the day. I thought that was amazing given I paper filed and there was a pandemic

We filed our 2020 taxes on February 23 and received our refund on March 9. It included the two stimulus rebates that we did not receive for our daughter.

Our 2019 taxes are another story. We are still waiting on them to be processed. The IRS does not show record of them, but they said they are extremely backlogged, and it could take 12-14 weeks after the return hits someone's desk. Thankfully, I sent them via registered mail so I have receipt that they were delivered.

Unless you are getting a refund not sure of the rush to file. The H&R block software I use still shows forms being updated. Could be needlessly complicated if you file early and then have to file an amended return once the forms finalize. If you consistently get a large return, should probably adjust what it being taken out of your paycheck. Large refund likely means you were overpaying during the year.

They seem to be taking a little time, DD e-filed and was approved by IRS on Feb 19. She still has no change in status on their website.

Yep. I’m getting a small refund this year, but I certainly don’t mind owing, at least to the point of not having to pay a penalty.

And no state taxes for me. 😁

Filed the end of February and already got our refund! Used Turbo Tax. This was the fastest turn around ever!! No clue when our State refund will come - that is never fast!

You always see news stories around this time of scammers filing in other people's names and getting a refund. They always recommend filing early. I haven't filed yet personally, because I sold some investments in 2020 which put my income higher than 2019 so I'm waiting for the stimulus checks to go out. Plus one form I was waiting on wasn't finalized until Feb 25. Definitely not getting a refund.

For everyone who says they haven't filed yet because they owe, you can file anytime and wait to pay until April.

Or it could be that I work a lot of inconsistent overtime and those checks have much more withheld because it's based on extrapolating through 26 pays and it looks like I make more than I do. Thus I get most back of what is withheld on the large overtime checks.

Or some people like to get a large refund check.

Or one should let people worry about how they do their own personal taxes for their own personal purposes and worry about whether one is having too much taken out.

I'm assuming the ACTC is holding ours up. They were accepted Feb 12, but still no refund.
