Dh and I got married 6 years ago, and recently I have been thinking or Renewing our Wedding vows at 10 years. We have been through so much (he has been working 60 plus hours a week and going to school full time since about 4 years ago/getting is MBA) anyway..its been really hard on our relationship since he is gone so much. Plus, we got married at 18, so we feel SO MUCH more for e/o now that we have built this great life together and want to reexpress and renew our vows...ANYWAY....

Just wondering if anyone else has done it and how it went. Or what other people's thoughts on it were in general.

We are thinking of doing it at Disney or in Kauai. Just a VERY private thing, with the two of us and our dd.

*Sorry I know this is Off Topic!*

First, congrats to you on working so hard on your marriage! :)
Second, I have always dreamed of renewing our vows in Disney. When we got married in Oct. 1994, I was part of the management team at our local Disney Store and I had a "Disney-themed" wedding in RI since we were Catholic and were not able to get married outside the church.... we of course honeymooned in Disney! Someday I would love to do it-it'll be 12 years we've been married this upcoming October (and we'll be in Disney in October as well! :) ) Now you've got me thinking.........................

:cheer2: :cheer2:

Wow and my husband thought I was the only one who thinks of these things.
I wanted to renew ours on our 10th last Sept. and we thought of Las Vegas but my dream renewal is in Hawaii and that I have to save up for and give up Florida for a year or two. So he said I'll have to wait for our 25th because that is a BIG one. For my 10th I did get a family ring and my husband got a tattoo.

I voted no. I've known 2 people to do this and they both ended up getting a divorce within 2 years of that. :guilty:

DH and I are planning on renewing our vows next year on our 15th anniversary. He wants something simple around here, but I would love to have it at Disney. We didn't have a traditional wedding the first time (justice of the peace) and only his Dad and Stepmom were there.

I'm wanting to have something really nice down at Disney, but he has a few PITA relatives that are complaining about it. Most of the family members are all for it, but you always have a few...... in the bunch that ruin it for everyone. We've actually had a couple of them tell us they would only go if we were paying for EVERYTHING (they want to stay at least a week and we should provide park tickets for every member of their family). :rolleyes2

Maybe DH is right. We should just stay home and I can cook :stir: for them!

No, I wouldn't renew. It's not like they expire or anything....darn, if they did, that might make things much more interesting. "Honey, remember, if you keep forgetting to take out the garbage, I might not pick up your option for the next five".

I get that it dosen't "expire" lol I just thought of it as a way to recapture the "newness" and romantisism of marriage after being together for a long time! Lol

Tough question. I have been married to DH for almost 5 years, but we have been together since 1991!!!! Would I renew my vows? Ask me again in 5 years. Maybe I'd do something small and simple for our 10th! Hawaii sounds AMAZING....yeah, that's the plan! :teeth:

We've booked to re-new ours later this month, here:

http://www.royalchapel.com/location.html

Started out as just DH, DD and myself but now two local friends are joining us, along with another friend and her DH who will be holidaying in Clearwater at the same time.

:cool1:

Unfortunately WDW was WAY out of our budget

DH and I plan on renewing in Disney for our 10th. Just us and the kids. I think it would be nice to reaffirm how we feel about each other with a ceremony. It would also be so different from our first wedding. (Big awesome party at a catering hall!). I say go for it! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: DH always said that I was leased with the option to buy. At about the five year mark I told him that there was too much milage on me and he'd have to pay a penalty to trade me in. Then I told him that the window for trade in ended without him making a move so he is stuck with me!

My master plan is a 25th major renewal with big reception, the kind that we couldn't afford when we were both poor grad students. If we did the 10th it would be in August 07, we are having a baby in August 06 and we still won't have the funds, and I won't have the figure, to do it the way I envision it!

Maybe I should have waited to have read this post on another day!! My DH mad me so mad yesterday  !! He's been out of town working for the past two weeks, staying away from home. Now, I work two jobs, from my home computer, and I had everything left on me...DD, homework, carpool, we have horses so they needed to be feed and taken care of morning and night, plus I got sick and had to go to the doctor (really bad sinus infection and double ear infection), I had such a bad headache I thought my head was going to blow off my shoulders. I've been having to keep going including working with all of this. Okay, he comes home Friday night, and does absolutely nothing on Saturday but lay in bed (said he had a headache also  ). I was hoping that he would have helped me out with things like washing, house cleaning, going through the mail, as I had not had a lot of time for any of this. But nooooo! So maybe I'll wait until another time to answer this question....

My dh and I renewed our vows in Maui on our 10 year anniversary. My dh surprised me with it, he planned the whole thing, including getting my parents to watch the kids for the week. It was just me and him and we did it overlooking the ocean then had a 5 course meal served to us in the same spot. He's a heck of a guy! Oh, that will be 4 years ago this June.

You're one lucky lady!! My DH would never be able to plan something like that on his own!! :rotfl2:

I also voted no. My sweet sweet DH suggested we renew our vows in WDW. **no budget**. Of course I was excited beyond belief at first. But then I sat down and thought/talked it out with DH. We were dirt poor when we got married at the court house. But I just dont think some big to do second wedding would ever "top" the way we felt on our wedding day. :goodvibes And I dont really want to try. We decided we would go to Japan for our 10th wedding aniversary instead of renewing our vows. LOL, this will actually cost less than Disney.

I think vow renewals are very romantic, but this just isnt *us*. But you just have to share your planning with us all if you renew!! :wizard:

When DH and I were married 13 years ago, the minister left out a whole section of the vows! :rotfl2: He forgot the whole "in sickness and in health" "richer or poorer", etc.

I would love to do it privately and write our own vows that reflect what our we have been through in our marriage and how we have been there for each other and always be...that sort of thing. Maybe add in the "sickeness and in health..." part this time.
