Did you make use of your splash pool?

Hi. I'm full of questions today.

For those of you that have rented in Windsor hills or other resorts, if you had the small splash pool, did you make use of it? Did you find it worth the time to pay to have it heated in the winter months?

We really only need a 2 bedroom, as it is myself, dh, and 2 small kids. But, in order to get the pool, it looks like we have to go with 3 brs.

Just trying to decide if it is worth the extra $$ to pay for a bigger place with unused bedroom, just to get the pool.

TIA!

We made use of it everyday and there was only DH and I. One of you can be with the kids in the pool while the other is doing things inside. It's very convenient for those times when you don't want to pack up and go to the main pool. After a long day at the parks it's great to just step out your patio doors and cool off in the pool.
Another thing is that you will be parking you vehicle right beside your front door. It makes for easy loading and unloading of luggage and kids. :thumbsup2
With the condos you will park in the parking lot and head up stairs or an elevator to your condo.
The townhouse has the master and twin bedrooms upstairs and a queen and bathroom downstairs, so in your case you would still be on the same level.

Thanks! Did you go in the winter months? Just wondering if the "heating" of the pool is adequate. Thanks!

We were there end of Feb - Mar. and the pool temp stayed in the mid 80s or so.
We were also there in end of Sept- Oct but pool heat was included in price, actually needed it turned down. When air temp is 95, you don't want to get into a 95 degree pool.

Here's another good townhouse owner to rent from: http://www.5mins2disney.com/
He's here on the DISboards. Owns two and manages the bookings for two more. Very nice.

Yeah, we've been in September... wouldn't want the pool that warm! :) Do you mind sharing where you stayed? Thanks!

We stayed in this one, which was very nice but we had to go to management company and pick up key. http://www.vrbo.com/69056
The couple that looked after the townhouse lives in WH and was there within a couple of minutes when we needed something but they worked for IPG which was further west on 192. This may have changed now because that couple now have their own rental site: http://www.dforlandovacations.com/
The other townhouse we stayed in was this one which was clean but very basic.
http://www.vrbo.com/87136 It was a last minute trip and we had to take what we could get, but their key was in a lock box by the door. No problems with either one.

We rented a Windsor Hills townhome in 12/06. We used the splash pool quite a few times. I really liked it because at the time, my kids were 2.5 and 4.5 and it was the perfect size for them. Also because it was smaller, I think it retained the heat better. We did opt for the pool heat and I'm glad, even though it was quite warm during our visit.

We were very pleased with our Windsor Hills experience. We found an owner through VRBO. The whole process was very easy -- we had to go to the management company to check in and get the key but even that was fine.

I don't recall which unit/owner it was though.

Try this one in Windsor Palms: http://www.vrbo.com/83748

We stayed at this owners 5 bedroom property in Windsor Palms and we were very happy (want to go back).

We were there in June and used pool heat in the 'Spa' (so it was warmer than the pool to make it like a hot tub)

We stayed at WH last December and the heated pool ws great to have. Our kids were 4 years old and 6 months at the time. The baby had pink eye  so I was busy tending to him and never got to get in! However my DH and DD loved loved that pool and we will be returning this November!

we used our splash pool daily. (various times of the day) and found it to be more enjoyable than the large resort pool. no need to walk someplace and then back when all you wanted was a cool dip. also enjoyed letting the kids play in there while we adults supervised from the living room sofa while relaxing in front of the TV.

if/when we stay offsite (which we loved and onsite would really have to be a great deal in order for us to choose it again) we will always pick a place that has a private pool at the house. even the small splash pool was just enough.

editing to add about heat: we stayed in mid june and heat was certanly not needed then. i personally would not pay the charge for heating the pool unless i was visiting nov-march/april.

I have a townhouse reserved for December and it says the pool there is 14x14. In doing the research to rent one most of them stated 12x12.

Approx, what is the size of the splash pools at the WH townhomes?

Yeah, it's 12 by 12 foot with an underwater ledge to sit on that runs the length of the side by the steps.( parallel to the patio doors) It's about 3 ft deep when you get to the bottom of the steps and then gradually gets to about 5 ft toward the opposite side. It's bigger than you think.
