nope, we went to bed at 11pm, but we did kiss when we went to bed. thankfully, my mother, who is in the midst of another nervous breakdown, only came into our room once last night wanting her pills, and amazingly, she slept through the night, or at least, she pretended to. Lord, give me strength. if my aunt doesn't come get her tomorrow, i'm going to have a nervous breakdown myself.

Yep. Busted my butt to get home from work in time. I waitress, and people tend to hang around on NYE. Last year, I was driving home when midnight struck. This year, I got home with 10 minutes to spare- long enough to slip into pjs and open a bottle of whine with dh! Like many others on this thread, though, I was zonked out not long after!

My fire house pager went off at 12:00:40. I was hugging and kissing my parents/grandma and sipping a glass of champagne.

I waited and kept my fingers crossed others would take it (I was out much of the night on the ambulance and I was tired and my family wanted me home and it IS volunteer)

At 12:03 they requested more people- I ran out the door.

I transported an intoxicated 19 year old to the hospital, got home at 1:30, and crawled into bed.

YES! I was so happy to see 2010 gone. It was a tough year for many reasons, although we also had many blessings, and I was so happy for us to be together yet another year!

YES! But we hadn't stayed up for it, evidently everyone in our neighborhood bought fireworks that sounded like cannons from the Black Pearl, and it woke us up just in time. Hubby gave me a kiss and said "happy new year" then he tried to make it a really happy new year and I told him to go back to sleep!

We usually do if we are awake. Did something a little different this year. Instead of welcoming in the new year with a kiss, we "mooned" 2010 out! 2010 was not our greatest year and we were glad to see it go.

Yes, we always do. This year my MIL came to our New Year's party equipped with a list of superstitions. One of them explained where this tradition came from:

Kissing at midnight: We kiss those dearest to us at midnight not only to share a moment of celebration with our favorite people, but also to ensure those affections and ties will continue throughout the next twelve months. To fail to smooch our significant others at the stroke of twelve would be to set the stage for a year of coldness.

DH has to be at work at 5:30 AM so he was already in bed. He has had this schedule for a few years now so no recent NYE kisses for me.

The first NYE we were together we went to a pretty big party. At midnight EVERYONE around us started kissing and DH (then DBF) just sat there! I tried to get his attention, it was no use. Of course, I was a little upset and told him why on the way home. He had no idea this was a tradition.

He started kissing me at the next red light and kissed me thru 2 green lights as well. It was very sweet. (There was no traffic)

If I had been home, yes there would have been a kiss at midnight. But seeing as I was still at the hospital waiting for my dad to get there - mom called around 8 for us to take her the ER and she was admitted with a blood clot in her lung - I didn't get outta the hospital until 12:20. I did get my kiss when I got home, though.
