Yes, I kept mine, I loved it, but i didnt get it preserved it is in a space saver bag. I kept it because I loved looking at my Momma's wedding photos and wished i could of played in her dress, my Best friend and her sister tell how they were little and would play in their Momma's dress and it was so big for them. I thought it would be nice to have for my little girl(if I was ever blessed with one) to play dress up in.

My cousin cut her wedding dress all up to use the material to make toothfairy cases, handkerchiefs and pillows for her little girls. cute idea

I do still have it. Uncleaned. Poor gown.

I had plans to make it into some sort of baby quilt, but just as I was about to do it, the site went out of business. So there it sits.

I still have mine. And my plans are to have it made into a Christening gown for future grandchildren.

I never thought of making baby things and grandchildren stuff! I made my own wedding gown 28 years ago. It is a really soft light cream color with 4" wide lace on the bottom and a wide lace "shawl" over the shoulders. I made my veil too, a spanish cap with long tulle veil and lace medallions sprinkled on the lower 2 feet adn trimmed with the same 4" lace as on the dress. It's simple and lovely.

I'm pretty sure that my daughter will want a different dress when she gets married. Our tastes are totally different. But I never thought about re-using the material. I don't have grandchildren yet *my older kids are only 22 & 16* But when I do I'll have to break out that dress and make a few little quilts. Thanks!

I kept my dress, but I didn't get it cleaned until almost 2 years later - when I was VERY pregnant with my first child! It's hanging in my closet, inside a vinyl dress bag. It is no longer white, but is a light ivory color. A friend made the dress for me, and NO - it hasn't fit in a LONG time!

I still have mine but not sure why really other than sentimental value! On the other hand my daughter is getting married next month (:scared1:) and she will be wearing part of my veil. I'm still debating over whether I should attempt to replace the lace on it, it's still very white so I don't know. It's nearly 30 years old so I'm afraid it might fall apart if I mess with it!

My dad made my sister's beautiful satin wedding dress. When she had her first-born he used part of it to make a gorgeous christening gown for the baby, which she ended up using on all four of her girls.

My MIL had her wedding gown made into an altar cloth for her church. I always thought that was pretty interesting.

My mom made my dress, and I still have it. I didn't have it cleaned or preserved, so I imagine it's pretty yellow (after all, this was almost 34 years ago!) I've kept it in a cedar chest all this time - and no way does it fit!

I gave mine to my 12 year old niece to use for a princess play dress. I loved my gown, have no daughters to pass it down to, and I'll never wear it again, so I let my niece have it after she begged me for it.

I have a girl, so yes, I have it. It's just hanging in a bag in the closet, nearly 13 years later. It still looks good. It's a classic style. I'll give it to my dd when she's grown. I think she'll be quite a bit taller than I, though.

I kept mine until I got pregnant. Then I had my mom's best friend make in into a baptismal gown for my babies. All 3 of my babies wore it. 1 girl and 2 boys.

I hope some day my grandchildren will wear it.

I had mine quilted and turned into a bedspread and the bodice into throw pillows. It's super cool but I don't display it becasue the cats will rip it up and then I'd have to have cat flambe! ;)

I have mine boxed and preserved with the veil. It wasn't really my choice. Come to think of it my wedding really was more my mom's than mine but that was fine by me. Flupzee didn't get to have the big wedding so it was nice to watch her in all her glory. :)

Yes I did keep it and actually had my daughter's christening gown made from it. I hope it will become a family heirloom and be handed down for generations.

I have my wedding dress upstairs in a box, I have even worn it since my wedding for a dressing up day at work! In the box I also have my 2 bridesmaids dresses I wore then I was younger (age 4 and 8) and my christening gown. I also have my aunties wedding dress upstairs which she gave me to turn into a Fairy Godmother outfit for a theatre production I was in (basically her wedding dress with a pair of wings added onto the back!)

it's hanging in a closet in its plastic bag. it's 32 years old! my dd is getting married at the end of the month in her own new dress. i like the idea of using the material for grandchildren things. i don't know if she'll want her dress "preserved" or not.

I donated mine to a wedding dress sale that benefitted a women's shelter. Every now and then I have a pang that it's gone, but it's been 18 years now, and it's not like I have a daughter that's going to wear it. And it's comforting to know that it went to a good cause. :goodvibes

My sil had a seamstress cut hers up and make it into a baptism gown for my niece. It turned out beautifully.

I only got married in Feb last year but my gown is hanging in it's bag in my wardrobe, I will have it cleaned and preserved one day.
I am a hoarder :)

I think the heartbreaking thing about selling it is, you pay like a LOT but don't get much back. I have been looking on CL at the ones for sale and some people are asking almost what they paid for it, which is sort of ridiculous. If I wanted to pay full price, I would buy a brand new one. Some are very reasonable priced and pretty, but not my size.

So I am buying a brand new one. :goodvibes

I saved mine. - I have 4 nieces, so I figure there's a chance one of them may want to wear something with a family connection.

Gave my oldest DD the wedding gown I wore when I married her father. She wore it as a Halloween costume as the dead bride. :rotfl2: Not sure what she did with it after that.

Some friends made me a lovely ivory colored dress for when I married DH it is hanging up in the closet. No way could I fit in to now.

Yes, I saved my dress. It was cleaned and preserved but just recently we had to take it out of the box because it was in a basement that flooded. Thankfully it is still as beautiful as it was the day I got married. I loved my dress!

It was only $323, thanks to an error at the bridal shop, they were handwritten tags and someone left off the 4th number!

I had a friend make both of my DDs ringbearer pillows out of my wedding dress. They are beautiful and brought something of my wedding day to theirs. There is enough material left to make some for the grandkids or a different project.

No one would want to wear my 1978 style dress made for 5'0" me!:)
