Did You Inherit Your Mom Or Dad's Eye Color?

Mom = Brown (but she also carries a recessive blue)
Dad = Blue
Me = Blue

Now for my kids:
DH = Brown (but he carries a recessive blue)
Me = Blue (but I probably carry a dominant Brown)
DD = Brown (DARK Brown, almost black)
DS = Blue

I'm another one who didn't inherit either color. My mother has brown eyes. My father has blue eyes. My eyes are multi-colored. They change depending on what I'm wearing. They have a dark blue ring around them, then the middle is green and then there is some brown by the pupil.

I just call them green. ;)

DH has blue eyes, so I presume our children will have green or blue eyes since two people with recessive eye genes can't have a brown-eyed baby. Is my eye color recessive? I think so. I don't know....I can't remember that far back in my education. :confused3

I'm a blend. My dad has blue, mom had green, I'm blue-green, but my eyes are much lighter than both of them. My brother has ocean blue eyes. My dd has grandma's green eyes though.

How do you figure out recessive genes and eye color of future kids?

I don't remember the exact specifics of it, but I know brown is dominant and blue is recessive. So, two blue eyed people can't have a brown eyed baby because they both have the recessive gene. I don't know where green fits in here though. I'm thinking back to high school biology and all I'm coming up with are those squares that my teacher made us draw. :)

Not sure how we managed this one but

Mom: blue
Dad: blue
Brother 1: blue
Brother 2: blue
Brother 3: hazel, greenish golden mix.
Me: same as brother #3, hazel, greenish, golden mix

I actully really like my eyes, they change a lot and you have to really look at them to see what color they are.

My DH: brown, (DH has a brother with blue eyes also.)
My DD: brown
My DD: blue

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth: (not sure what color the mail mans eyes were, but I don't think that is the case :teeth: :rotfl: ) ;)

That's good Ally but how do you figure out mother and fathers genes blue-blue/brown-brown...?

Mom-Grey/Blue
Dad-Crystal Blue

My brother and sister got my mom's grey/blue eyes and I got my dad's bright blue eyes

Hard to tell....
Mom = blue
Dad = blue
3 of 4 grandparents = blue
Me = blue

Dh's Mom = blue
Dh's Dad = blue
Dh = blue

Surprisingly enough our dd = blue (what a shocker! lol)

Neither. My Dad has cornflower blue eyes (the EXACT color of that crayon) and my Mom has green eyes. Mine are grey with a dark blue ring around them. They can look blue, or grey or green depending upon what I am wearing, but they NEVER look the same color blue or the same color green as either of my parents.

Mom and Dad Brown = Me brown
Then how come Me brown and Dh brown= 3 children with varying colors of green/hazel?
Hazel & green are mutations of genes. Green sometimes comes from blue and hazel usually comes from a form of brown.

But two brown eyed can have a blue eyed kid if they both carry the blue gene (brown is dominant over blue). So either way with hazel being a mutation of blue or brown colors, it's pretty easy for a brown eyed couple to have kids with hazel eyes )

Eye color genetics isn't as cut and dry as blood types or the like are
