Did you have luck using a hook-on high chair?

We plan on buying one of these soon to have for when we are away from home.

Has anyone tried using them at WDW? If so, which one do you have?
What do you like/dislike about it?

I'm debating between the Chicco and the Phil & Ted. Leaning towards the P&T because it only weighs 2 lbs. and will be light in the suitcase! It also looks like it will fit nicely into a diaper bag or under the stroller.

Quite honestly we never went anywhere that what they had available wasn't perfectly acceptable. I did tend to wipe them down myself before allowing baby in them though.

I am afraid of those things. I always feel like they are going to fall.
If germs are the issue they have covers that go over restaurant high chairs. We have one and it is great because there is a velcro loop that you can hang toys on so they don't get dropped on the floor.

We're getting one either way, so I wanted to know if anyone used the 2 I mentioned at Disney and if it was worth bringing.

We have a Chicco one, but we mainly used it at home. It is great, once it gets too dirty we just put the cloth seat in the washer. We didn't bring it with us to WDW since we just used what was available, but it worked great when we visited friends and in a few restaurants.

The back folds down and has a handle on it. I liked that I could just wipe it off with a wipe.

My MIL bought it for us when we went to visit and our 2nd child was a baby. We used to just leave it in the car in case we needed it. It was nice to have it for restaurants and other people's houses. We didn't use it at Disney because our youngest was about 2 at the time. It does fold small enough to fit under a stroller.

The seats that "hook" onto the table? I cannot comment on the brands that are available now, but the original Sassy Seats (non-folding) were very safe. My dad invented them when I was an infant (32 years ago). They wanted me to be at the table with the family and didn't like the highchairs. Sassy Seat never had a claim of default that was not the parents not following directions/instructions. Both my children used them (still have a couple of the old ones) from when they started to sit up until they could sit at a table without a booster seat (over 2 yo). The weight of the child sitting in it is what "attaches" it to the table (the cloth ones may be different). the biggest mistake that parents make is to geve the child a footrest (chair, bar under the table)...they child can then push up, releasing the seat which then makes it possible for them ( and the seat) to fall off the table. Like I said, I can't comment on the brands/models now, but the original ones were very safe.

I never used one of those hook on highchairs because I was too nervous.

Even if I used/liked it, I wouldn't want to be dragging one around WDW all day just to have it for mealtime. Seems like a PITA to me, but just my opinion.

We have the Munchkin Monkey hook on one and I honestly would never lug that thing around WDW. We use it for camping and hooking onto the picnic tables.

I don't know the brand that we had (it was given to us) but we loved it.
I much prefered it to a regular high chair. At the kitchen table the kids were sitting right with us. And I could hook it on the counter while I was doing other things. We originally got it for camping but once we had it I never used anything else.

WOW, Cool! Great to hear stories of it being used. The family sold the business in the early 80's (think '82), but I remember all 3 shops/wearhouses. They started out of my grandparent's house and up until I moved/sold that house in '03 I would still get the occasional letter asking where one could be found. Honestly, I do have a twinge of *UGH* when I see the Sassy brand now...Oh, what coud have been . Yep, the original Sassy girl, just don't know if I was sassy thus the name or I got to be sassy cause of the name . (If you had one of the original Sassy boxes, the baby girl was me and then the next shoot I was probably 3ish. I just know everyone wanted to know that. )
