I'm trying to decide whether to have a hair & make up trial before the wedding and was hopeing past brides might be able to share their opinions & tips?? We're flying in from the UK and have got a pretty tight plan for our time while we are there - but I'm just wondering whether it would be a good idea to have a trial before the day??

we flew over in feb for the planning session and I had a trail with beaute speciale which is who I am using on the wedding day

i would also be coming from the uk but i dont think i would try and get a trial in. Its going to be stressful enough with travelling and all the wedding stuff that i think i wouldn't want to be worried about a trial as well. I would book someone recommened on the boards and if i were you go to hairdresser in the uk and get them to write down what they do and take loads of pictures. Then i would plan lots of time to do the make up in case you want to make any changes!

No, I didn't. I just brought a picture and showed it to Ana and she did my hair just like the picture except for the few changes that I wanted.

I am going to have my regualr stylist at home do my hair and take a picture that I will bring with me and show to Patricia on the day of. :goodvibes

If it will ease your mind then have your stylist at home do your trial and take some pictures. I always recommend that brides have a trial.

I didn't have one though...I just talked with Ana before the wedding sent her pictures of my hair and a picture of the style I wanted. She will listen so if you are using her you are in great hands :)

I didn't do one either.... just brought pics showing the front, back, and side of the hairstyle I wanted. It came out perfectly! I also just told her what I wanted with my makeup and that came out great. I just kind of figured that they knew a whole lot more than me about makeup and stuff and put my trust in their hands! :)

I scheduled a hair/make up trial 2 days before my wedding. At first I wasn't going to do it, but I think I would feel better on my wedding day know what to expect. I also think the trial will be a good opportunity to see what hair styles will or won't work on me. I really don't want to have to go through the stress of possibly not liking my hair on the wedding day and then rushing to fix it.

I agree!

I was SO glad I did a trial, and if I hadn't been able to do it at our planning session, I would have scheduled it for a few days before the wedding.

It took a bit of work to get the look I wanted, and there were elements of the trial makeup that I didn't like. So on the wedding day I knew exactly what to ask for and there wasn't any last minute do-over.

However, if you're not picky like me or don't usually wear makeup or just want a traditional hairstyle, you may not need a trial. :thumbsup2

I completely recommend doing a trial. In fact it wasn't until my trial that I realized the hair i thought I had always wanted actually did not look good on me. I would have benn devastated if i did that style from pics and then it did not look good on my wedding day.

Knowing what I know now about how good Ana is, I would be confident in not having a trial. She did exactly what I wanted, no problems at all. Going in, I'd never met her, didn't know how it would turn out, so I don't regret my trial at all. And I looked very pretty at Cirque that night!

Thanks for all your views everyone :grouphug: In some ways I feel like a trial would ease my stress levels because Im really worried about what sort of hair do to have - its not how the stylist may do it, its more the heat - because Im trying to decide whether to have it up or down :confused3

The other problem Im having is trying to decide when to have the trial - the only times we've kinda got spare is the mornings before we go to universal studios and I think I might then look way too dolled up for a day in the parks  Do Beaute Speciale do evening trials?? Then we could maybe go citywalk afterwards and I wouldnt mind looking extra sparkly then ;) :thumbsup2

I'm having my hair done at the GF salon. I've booked a trial for the Monday two days before my wedding. I think i know what i want but i'm not 100% certain as i'm not sure what it will look like with my tiara. So im glad i've booked the trial.

I'm also thinking about doing the GF photoshoot with photopass on the same day as my hair trial so i can have my hair up for it. :thumbsup2

Well if they do not do evening trials (which I agree would be optimal) I would not worry about being dolled up...you can take some makeup off and let some hair down...hey you will have great pics that day:rotfl:

I had a hair trial before we left the UK with my regular hairdresser. The idea was to take lots of photos and for Anna from Makeovermajic to replicate the style. But although I took lots of photos, I wasn't too keen on the style as I really wanted more height and depth. On the big day I showed Anna the photos and a couple of inspiration photos I'd pinched from this site and used them to explain EXACTLY what I wanted and I was over the moon with the result. So I'd say, yes, have a trial if only to find out what you really want!:)
