Did you get married in a church?

DH and I got married by a JP at the same hotel where we had the reception, since we are not religious people. Our parents didn't make an issue of it, but if they did, I think I would have eloped. No one should tell you where you should get married, that is a personal decision between you and fiance. Weddings are stressful enough, to add that to the pot would just be too much for me
Do what you feel is right for you and your fiance.

If the parents are giving you grief about getting married in a church I have one word for you: ELOPE!!!! Then you have it any way you want it.

Been married almost 34 years to the same man. Love him more today than ever.

We got married in my church when we were pretty young. I was methodist and he was catholic.

We got our marriage blessed in a catholic church about 5 years later. His sister wanted us to be godparents to her daughter and this was the only way it could happen.

We had our vows renewed after 27 years of marriage in Las Vegas at "The Chapel of the Bells". It's the same chapel that Chevy Chase and Beverly DiAngelo had their vows renew in, in the movie "National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation". Just the 2 of us and it was the best of the 3 times I said "I do".

But I agree with others who said it should be your decision where you say your vows.

Nope. DD and I got married in our living room, on a warm and bright February day with only our closest family present. We've both been married before and done the whole church/reception thing already. At our age we had learned a few things, and put all our celebration $ into the honeymoon, where it belongs!
The funny thing is, it almost didn't happen, because DH's friend who was supposed to marry us was called out of town and we had a really hard time finding a sub who would marry people who'd been divorced. It's the South, what can I say? (ok, I could say it, but I'd be banned from the DIS for life!)
