I had this miserable year in Pittsburgh almost 30 years ago.

1. One of the worst winters in history - 80+ inches of snow (I'd moved there from S.F.). I remember waiting for a bus to go to the doctor with flu in the middle of a blizzard.

2. Coal strike - our offices were only heated to about 60 degrees and we were not allowed to turn lights on in the office.

3. Crime - had 3 batteries stolen, tried to steal my car on multiple occasions, on more than one occassion someone in line in front of me waiting to pay for something had their money snatched.

4. Every guy I dated lived with his parents (at 30 years old)

5. My bed broke and I had to sleep in the floor until spring when it thawed out

6. I had to work 7 days a week sometimes 12/14 hours a day for months (new MBA)

7. No street signs any where. I was always lost.

I think Pittsburgh is probably a really fun city today, but boy did I have a bad year.

I got transferred to Houston after a year. Most everyone I knew HATED Houston with a passion (traffic, weather, etc), but I was thrilled to be there.

Wow, thrilled to be in Houston! From where I see it, that must mean Pittsburgh was really bad. I'm down here in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, moved here from Massachusetts, and for about the first 5 years I can say I hated it. DH knew that if he called me from work saying we were gonna move from here, I'd be sitting on the front steps with my suitcase packed, ready to go, by the time he got home. Now it's been 13 years, and although I can't say I like it, I suppose I've resigned myself to it. But I hate the climate, the high crime rate, the landscape is ugly, it's like being at the end of the earth. I only stay here because I love DH, and this is where his job is. Otherwise I'd be outta here so fast. Another 5-10 years til DH retires, then we're moving to a more "mutually agreeable" area, most likely Alabama (him for the golf, me for being closer to WDW)

I lived in Waco, Texas for three months and I hated it. It was the hottest summer on record so far and I had a boss that just didn't like me at all! I couldn't wait to get out of there. I sure that Waco is nice for most people but I was so homesick I thought I would die. I would see bumperstickers that said "We don't care how you do it up north!" When people asked where I was from, I would say, Tennessee, and they would say, "oh! That's a pretty little state!" (insert condesending attitude) Ughhhhh!!!

Yes it did - I meant for it to be on the community board. I don't usually even read the meets board - not sure how I did that but I apologize!

I positively hate Worcester, MA. But I'm stuck here two more years until I graduate.

This town is yucky.

I guess that goes to show how what one person hates, another person loves. I lived in and around Worcester for 40 years and went to WPI. My parents still live up there, Mom teaches at Worcester State. I loved it up there and wish I could go back. But I don't miss the springtime potholes!

I currently attend WPI. I love WPI's campus and the full scholarship for me was the ultimate factor in why I ended up here.
I come from Jacksonville, FL where I had a beach 15 minutes away. Hanna Park for the trails. I was a lot more active back home. I'm just not a northern person, being up here has shown me that. Once I graduate, my fiance and I will end up somewhere around the Southern States, hopefully. I dislike shoveling my car out and having to drive in the snow.

My DH and I lived in S. Ca outside of LA in the San Gabriel valley for 7 years. I hated just about every second of it:

The crime & gang violence (there during the riots)
Heat
Lack of Seasons
Traffic - Spending 2-4 hours a day commuting
The extreme cost of housing
Putting my DS on a waiting list for a private school when he was born (I am not kidding)

Yearbook50,

I also live in Worcester and absolutely hate it too, and I'm from NY, I don't think it's just the weather I think it is everuthing especially the way people drive, and how about the love for those Red Sox, I could just hurl
