Hi folks, have a dilemma. My cousin who is attending the wedding is a hairdresser (yay - solves a problem!!!!) but she has said she is not great with make up but another cousin has said she is willing to try and do a few trials before. Have any disney brides done their own make up? I feel competent enough but did you feel special enough?

If you go to a bunch of Mary Kay or Avon demonstrations and learn exactly how to do it, you will look beautiful!

i don't get there until the 7th :( i was going to offer to come over and do it for you.

it's definately possible to do it yourself if you practice. i'm a makeup artist and i've been practicing my wedding look since december... and i'll keep practicing until my november 2012 wedding to make sure i have it down.

if you don't feel confident... definately book someone!

thanks so much for the thought!!!! see with normal or everyday make up i feel fine and confident and when i really make the effort - not everyday work look - people comment on how well it looks so i just dont know. im starting to buy wedding make up but im still undecided....

i'm sure you can do your own make up absolutely! i did use beaute and i was glad - i'm someone who is good with make up, but i was happy not to drag along 8 million additional products and truly have make up that lasted all day. now, i should have powdered my nose by the time the reception ended, but eveerything really lasted and whenever i passed a mirror i was always surprised that i still looked put together. the one service isn't terribly expensive. that said, yes, i could have done my own and especially if you are getting help with your hair, doing your own make up isn't going to ruin the specialness of the morning or anything!

you will be great!

I'll be doing my own makeup for my wedding. I found an awesome makeup artist at one of my local MAC stores. I usually go into him for any special event, tell him what I'm wearing and he does the rest!! I just buy the colors that he uses on me. I've been so happy with him I don't know what I'll do if he moves away :confused3

It took me a few tries to see which makeup artist I like best but now that I've found him it's completely worth it. I know MAC can sometimes seem intimidating but they can do softer looks also. It really just depends on who you find. It always ends up looking great in pictures and it always lasts all day.

I did my own make up, just because I hate the feeling of lots of make up on my face. I think you can definatly do your own, if you do your own make up on a regular basis. But if you don't normally wear make up, than book someone.

Hi there.. How exciting, I could only dream of getting married in WDW one day me and my Fiancee will get there, anyway I am currently enrolled to get my Ethestics Licence here in NJ... I also am a Mary Kay Consultant. Anyhoo, I wanted to ask if you had gotten any makeup artist quotes and if you wouldnt mind sharing them with me through private message, one of the things I want to do with my licence is Bridal Makeup on the side through my Mary Kay Business... If you have any information on what a makeup artist may charge I would love to know! Thanks a bunch! Congrats on your Wedding and I am sure you will be Beautiful no matter who does your MakeUp!!!

thaks so much for all the comments folks!!! really appreciate it! i think ill try and i have been looking into the mist fixer - forever make up mist and fix - so i will prob buy that and just carry the essentials.

regarding the price of bridal make up i was quoted $80 or $65 not sure which one was for make up and for hair. im sure if you ring around places they will tell you.

will just practice lots at home before at the various department store counters but yes the MAC counter sometimes looks a bit daunting but i will give them a try too.

thanks girls!!!!!

Don't forget to take pictures of your practice sessions so you know how your "look" will look on camera. Take practice pics in sunlight and indoors. :goodvibes

I had Beaute Speciale do my makeup. I'm a Mary Kay consultant and very comfortable doing my own face, but thought that it would be one less thing I had to stress out over. I got to sit there, relax and have someone do it for me.

i just thought of something!

if you live near a macy's.... dior is getting ready to do their workshops (i think this week or next) where they teach you how to do the makeup on your own. we just finished our workshop at dillard's. call and make an appointment with them!!

wow thanks but we live in northern ireland. we do have department stores here but none that would be that forward thinking lol

I did my own makeup, but did have my hair professionally done. I don't like a lot of makeup and DH hates a lot of makeup. Every time I have had my makeup professionally done, either at a department store or as a bridesmaid/MOH for friends, the makeup made me look old and just not me. I was MOH a couple years ago and literally washed my face after the makeup artist did my makeup and re-did it myself. It looked so bad and reminded me why I never let anyone else do my makeup. For my wedding I bought Estee Lauder makeup that was made for photography, it diffuses the light, and I think it did make a difference. Practice beforehand, so you're not trying something new the day of your wedding, and I am sure you will look gorgeous!

I am also conflicted whether or not to do my own make up. I think since my wedding is on the beach I won't be wearing that much make up so I will probably do it myself...I have been buying a TON of make up and plan to start doing trial sessions with my self starting soon (my wedding is not until November 1st)....I am also doing the MK shoot but they seem to be further away shots so I am not to concerned with that either..

I am investing in some lash growth stuff like latisse...I want to get my lashes thicker as I do not want to use fake eye lashes and I heard the eye lash extensions wreck your eye lashes you have...

I am having my hair done professionally for both the wedding AND the MK shoot... I have very long hair and need help curling it and all...

hi guys, thanks again for all the input, very much appreciate it. ive decided to go with beaute speciale for hair and make up, just want to treat myself and the wedding pics will last forever so i want to look as good as i possibly can. on the very upside i started investing in some good quality make up that will be great to wear for the rest of the trip!!

thanks again
