I'll be 16 weeks along with twins on our trip this month. I need to buy new shoes for the trip. I heart my flip flops and usually wear those in the parks. I'm thinking I may need something better for this trip. I don't like sneakers in the heat.

I went pregnant and couldn't have imagined not wearing really good tennis shoes. Sorry, but that's my suggestion. ;)

congrats on your twins!!! How exciting!

First off, congratulations!

I went at 11 weeks pregnant in January, and lived in my Fitflops. They are seriously THE MOST COMFY flip flops in the world. I can look at shoes and get blisters, but absolutely nothing bad happens when I wear my FitFlops.

Congrats on your twins. I am going pg too in 15 days. I'll be 27 weeks pg and usually live in my flip flops at Disney. Since I thought I may need a little more support for the extra weight I am carrying, I bought a pair of Keen sandals. They seem to be pretty comfy...I did wear them at home some to break them in. I still plan to wear my flip flops as much as I can though...but switch off with my Keens. Tennis shoes in the Florida heat would NEVER work for me either. Good luck...if you see a huge pregnant woman with 3 kids in tow say hi, it just might be me!!!

I went at 16 weeks, and I also wore my tennis shoes, but that is what I wear on every trip. Good luck with whatever you decide and the pregnancy!

I didn't do Disney but I did do Universal pregnant and it was sneakers for me. My ob always recommended putting shoes on in the morning and not taking them off until the night. It prevented swelling and my feet never grew.

Have fun and congrats.

Chiara makes a great point about your feet swelling. I went last year at 22 weeks and I had no swelling in my feet. I loved my Merrell sandals/flip flops, so much that I am bringing them this May even though I am not pregnant. They gave my feet about the same support as tennis shoes, and my feet never hurt. I would bring both though, just incase your feet did start to swell at all.

If your feet are used to wearing flip-flops, then you should be okay.
I went at 7 months pregnant; 5 days in May; and I alternated between 2 pairs.

My feet hate shoes:rotfl: and I only wear them when it's cold, so stuffing them into socks:eek:and shoes would have made me miserable.
But the advice about swelling was good, by the very end of that pregnancy I had sausage for feet.

I went at 6 1/2 pregnant with TWINS during the heat and humidity of June -- literally days after burying my father! It was a big big mistake. I got so sick and ended up on bedrest for the rest of the pregnancy. I never heard the end of it from my doctor who was thrilled with the idea of me taking this trip even though I had a normal healthy pregnancy up to that point.

The best shoes in the world wouldn't have helped me. :)

I hope you have a more positive experience.

I was 8 months pregnant on our 1st trip- I just got a great pair of Nike shox before we left. They really helped! It was the rest of me that was tired;not my feet.
Have a great trip!:wizard:

Last trip (5 years ago in May), I was 4 months pregnant, and my legs started swelling by 9am every morning BEFORE we left for FL. I have always worn Birkenstocks at Disney - never had a blister. If you can stand sneakers, that's probably best, but since you're a flip-flop wearer, you'll probably be most comfortable in GOOD SUPPORTIVE sandals (but not flip-flops). My current favorite sandals are river sandals used primarily for kayaking. The soles are super cushy, the straps are quick-dry webbing, and they're adjustable in every direction. They're Tevas (not the standard style - one of the river styles), but lots of companies make similar sandals. Whatever you choose, make sure you break them in really well!

I would avoid flip-flops due to the loosening of your joints. Your hips may not be working "normally" while you're there, and flip-flops won't help you catch your footing. And could just possibly cause some damage (sprained ankle?)

I just went at Christmas, about 15 weeks pregnant. I am a flipflop girl here in Hawaii (that's all I've worn, literally, for years now) but for Disney I did wear my running shoes for support. I normally HATE wearing shoes so I wore the little low cut thin socks and I was fine.

Have fun!

Yeah, my vote is for sneakers that are mostly breathable mesh/fabric. I can't imagine getting through in sandals or flipflops, and I am only 14 weeks pregnant with one baby.

I went while I was 20 weeks preggo with my daughter in May 2007. I brought my Birkenstock sandles and I also bought Disney Crocs while I was there. I wore those both and they provided great support. I have always worn my Birkenstocks while at Disney but it was nice to have something different to alternate days.

I was 7 months pregnant when we visited and I wore mesh Merrell clogs that I love! Comfy and breathable with support. I now wear them for every trip to Disney. I don't know if you have a DSW Shoes, but they were in store for $59 earlier this week. Congrats and Best Wishes.pixiedust:

I bought a pair of new Saucony running shoes literally days before our trip in December, and I wore them everyday. I was sixteen weeks along at the time, and my feet were about the only thing that didn't bother me. They were wonderful!

I live in my Columbia sandals in FL (and through the warm months here at home). Sure, they're ugly, but they're comfy, they dry quickly, and they aren't hot like tennies.
