I keep reading that the weather is still iffy in March and would LOVE personal stories on how the weather was and if the water was warm enough to swim in? Thank you!!! :)

I was on the 3/13 dream cruise, the water at castaway cay was quite cold, maybe 15% of total people were in the water, most high up on floaties. Its not like that every year though, it hard to predict

I was on the Dream 2/27 cruise, and on Castaway on Tues. 3/1. It was a warm, sunny day when we were there, and plenty of people were swimming.

We snorkeled and felt comfortable in the water (the water felt a little chilly when I first got in, but I was never cold). Stayed in for about an hour or so, right around noon. At no point did I feel like I had to get out because I was too cold -- it was great!

I don't know if we just got lucky, but it was a beautiful day!!

March 2010 at Castaway Cay was even colder than this March, but water this March was still too cold for most to swim in as TitanBrett pointed out. My Dad didn't even bother walking up to the water given our reports....our 2 year old went in though, as he did the previous year, even though after about 10 mins, he was shivering and had to get out. I remember talking to the life guard in March 2010, and she did indicated it isn't really warm enough until June/July.

March 2010 and 2011 in the Bahamas were too cold to get in the water. So, we booked for June 1, 2012!!!

We cruised in March 2010 and the wore jackets 2 out of the 3 days.

The water was way too cool to enjoy in our opinion. A few kids got in the water, but not many. Pelican Plunge was fairly new and hardly anyone used it. Only one of my three boys braved the cool water temps to try it out.

At Nassau, they still had the water excursions. Our neighbors said they had a snorkeling excursion and hardly anyone got in the water. It was just an expensive boat ride for them.

We will not cruise the Bahamas in March again. We enjoy the water to be warm so will stick with summer and early fall if we do the Bahamas again. I wouldn't hesitate to do a Caribbean cruise during March though.

I did March several years ago...and as you can tell by my signature....never did it again. The weather was beautiful...warm and sunny. But, the water was way too cold for us.

March 24, 2011 on the Dream and this March was the first out of 9 that was actually "hot" on the beach but the water was still chilly. We had a perfect week of weather and I commented to friends traveling with us that it was the best weather for March we've ever had. Last year it was chilly and rainy. So, yes...March can be iffy.

We were on the 3/10 Dream and our day at Castaway Cay was a gorgeous one weather wise.

Cannot tell you re the water but I would assume it's still a bit chilly at this time of year.

Best wishes.

Agree with the above posters....March 2011 & March 2010 the weather on the sand was great but too cold to get in the water. March 2009 we vacationed at Atlantis...one day gorgeous but one day cloudy & drizzly. The day we left in 2009 it poured buckets!

We are now booked for June 2012!

This was our second March cruise on Princess, and it was the second time we didn't make it into Princess Cay, their private island in the Bahamas.

we were on the 3/10 Dream sailing. It worked as a quick 3 day adult getaway - air temp was decent (better than home!) but water too cold for us. I definitely would not do it again bringing the whole family... IMHO, the Bahamas are not far south enough to go in March, for us anyway

We were on the Wonder in March 2010 and although it was sunny and warm on CC, the water was too cool for me! There were a few children who braved the waters, but not too many. It also rained cats and dogs in Nassau! I would prefer warmer weather myself!

We were on the same cruise. It was definitely chilly at first but once you got in it was great. We did Pelican Plunge 3x (and you have to swim out, it's very deep) and floated on the tubes in the afternoon.

Though I haven't cruised to the Bahamas in quite some time when were there back in 2006 and 2007 the weather itself was quite warm and lovely mid 80's--but the water was FREEZING :scared1:!! So my DH and I did not tolerate the water at CC for very long, our DD's however didn't seem to mind!!
