Did U Contact WDW and Protest Price Increases?

No one's "calling out the OP."

The OP asked a QUESTION.

People are RESPONDING to the OP's QUESTION.

When you pose a QUESTION, you are going to get REPLIES.

And sometimes, the answer or response is not going to be the same as yours.

I believe those who haven't agreed with the OP have been very fair and respectful.

Did you picket the gas station? Those prices have gone up.

Do you talk to the store manager when bread goes up?

Do you complain to the airlines when tickets go up?

Perhaps we should all complain when our bosses decide to give us a pay INCREASE..........

If you don't like it when prices go up.....stop purchasing whatever it is that increased. There. That makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

Perhaps you should. The last time that I checked, "profit" was not a 4-letter word and the only responsibility the Walt Disney Co. has is to its shareholders. As others have already stated, much more eloquently -- the parks still give excellent value for the $$$. Yes, I wish I had made my ticket purchase before the price hike -- but the price hike for the particular tickets I will be buying is less than $3/day.

Right. That $10 really put a hole in the old bank account.

Instead of putting all that time and energy into something as selfish as this, perhaps you could have fed a homeless person, donated clothing or toys to a childrens shelter, or just go out of your way to make someones day nicer. Lets stop thinking about ourselves for a moment and help out.

I am just curious, WHY?

Do you protest the increases at the Grocery store, the gas station?

You vote with your MONEY. The best protest is not to go if you don't think it is worth it.

I don't think contacting them will do much good if you continue to go and spend money. The decision to spend the money is the big vote and each of us has to make our own decision on that.

I guess respect is in the eye of the beholder.

Sansaarai
you clearly did not read my post

I was not agreeing or disagreeing with the op but I still think that telling her to go out and give to charity etc was harsh and uncalled for.

And yes I do think Einser's successor will raise prices and by the way I still think WDW is a good value, actually an excellant value for the money. Am leaving today for a week there myself.

the only reason I posted was to say that I thought that comment was harsh.

There is no need to attack the OP for their opinion and I wasn't attacking anyone else for theirs. Opinions can be expressed and questions answered with respect and consideration.

Protest a $10 increase? Whatever for?

It is well below the pace of inflation on an AP. If you are upset with it, just don't buy tickets. If enough people stop buying tickets, demand will slacken and it'll open up the parks for me & my family (thanks!):teeth:

Next time the original poster of this thread will learn to phrase his or her question and/or call to action in a Disney-Correct manner.

Over the past few years I have read many a post by people complaining of the slightest action taken by Disney, ranging from the elimination of some perk to increasing the price of soda.

If the original poster had simply stated the fact that prices had increased for entry into the park, and asked for comments, then the tenor of this thread would have been much different. Many people would have written in to agree that the rate of increase seems rather out of proportion to the inflation rate. Some of the more thoughtful may perhaps have even wondered if Disney were trying to quickly inflate its book value in order to avoid a hostile takeover of the company.

However, for the original poster to call on people to boycott or protest that which they love was doomed to failure and simply invited flaming.

As several posters have stated, Disney is a business. Make no mistake that those who spend their time reading these boards mean business too, and are quick to heap coals of shame on anyone who questions Disney.

No mention of a boycott was made in the OP. Furthermore, the OP did not ask for people to protest Disney (assuming that is what you meant by "that which the love") , just the price increase.

Besides, many responses managed to communicate a meaningful thought without the belligerence

Am I being denied my right to the free exchange of ideas?
Oh for goodness sake. Obviously you're not barred, since you were able to post THIS post and the one following it.

There are many times when I try to post and it tells me to sign in again. It seems to have something to do with how long you are idle on the boards. If you had composed a lengthy response, then it probably took you a while to do so. The boards would then register that you were "inactive" -- you weren't opening or reading or anything. I'm sure the moderators can explain it better.

I find that when I write a long post, it's prudent to copy it to my clipboard before I hit "Send." Then, if I'm bumped off due to inactivity (or whatever glitch in the system causes that to happen), all I have to do is sign on again, paste my response back onto a reply screen and hit "Send" again. It always goes through.

Do you have the right to protest?

Sure.

Does Disney have to listen to you?

No.

I don't get it. It's not as if you have to go to Disney world so you have to pay increased prices. It's a free market. You have the choice where you want to spend your money but companies have the choice as to how much they want to charge. In my opinion, protesting this price hike is kind of silly. At best, sending a letter of making a call will be ineffective.

Nobody likes to pay more money for anything. That being said, my closest theme park is a Six Flags. I can't stand going there. Nothing is maintained. It's disgusting. Disney keeps everything beautiful for its cutomers and is constantly working on new attractions for us to enjoy. On top of that, I feel the food is reasonably priced for guests as well. Look at the prices at other theme parks. They are at least comparable, if not more expensive. At least Disney uses the money it makes to make improvements and update their parks.

:teeth: I thought I was the only one who DIDN'T think food prices were over the top, lol. I found them to be rather reasonable for the most part, considering the portion sizes and the fact that you ARE in a theme park. I thought the prices at Disney were better than those at Six Flags. Of course, I had several family members "warn" me before we went to "fill up" before we went into the parks each day so that we wouldn't get hungry and have to pay the outrageous food prices, LOL! Yeah, right. Sorry for going OT folks, couldn't resist.

Believe it or not,

Within the week I stayed at WDW, I spent approximately the same amount of money (for food) just like if I stayed in Toronto.

Clothing etc, are the same price, if not cheaper, than Toronto.

Park entrace is about the same as Canada's Wonderland (that's really bad)

Disney gives the option for people to drink the water from the water-fountain, no park in Canada do that.

so.... $10 increase in AP? it's okay.

With the number of people in the parks, I'm surprised that they didn't up the AP price by $50 per annum and park price by $10 per day. Less people in the park means better enjoyment for the park goers anyway (while Disney makes the same amount of dollars)

How much did ticket prices increase? We didn't decide to go until the day or so after it seems prices were increased. If I'd known..... But since I didn't, I'll just pay the price now.:D I was just curious about what they used to cost. I think we'll probably get 5 day Hoppers.

All I know is that no matter how I do the math I can never go on a week long vacation for 2 to anywhere comparable and spend less than what I pay at Disney. My DH wants to know why we keep going back. "It's so expensive." But not more so that a week in Mexico or Europe or any major metro area in the US. Given what we spend on travel and food/lodging, I really think WDW offers as much or more vacation value than the next place. AND I know that I will always get a quality product. Totally worth the price for us.

I have written the Walt Disney World Resort and expressed my displeasure with the recent price increase.

Thank You to all of you that responed to my post.

It seems that I have touched quite a Sensitive Nerve.

As I write this almost 1900 have viewed my post...WOW!

I will not respond further nor will I read any further replys to my post.

Thanks Again!
